Josh Gad, the Broadway actor, narrowly missed the opportunity to star in James Cameron’s sci-fi masterpiece. In his recently released memoir, Gad recalled the moment he almost landed a major role in Avatar as Jake Sully’s best friend.

Known for voicing the iconic animated character Olaf of Disney’s Frozen, he was ready to seize the chance, but luck wasn’t in his favor. He said he apparently looked like a “tall overweight Smurf.”
