Fan-favorite character actor Joe Pantoliano is set to take on a key minor role in The Last of UsSeason 2.

Per Variety, Pantoliano will be making his The Last of Us debut as Eugene. In the video game, Eugene is only ever mentioned when Ellie and Dina happen across his abandoned stash house and weed den. The Last of Us franchise co-creator Neil Druckmann said of the news, "I get excited when I see these opportunities. I'm like, 'Oh, I don't know Eugene that well!' The story we told [in teh game] was somewhat superficial." Druckmann added, "The way this character comes in really gets to the heart of Joel and Ellie and their relationship."
