Wicked is on a hot streak this awards season. Jon M. Chu’s movie has scored big, with 10 Oscar nominations for 2025, including Best Picture. But while the first film is still making headlines, many are already looking forward to the sequel, Wicked: For Good. One of the biggest topics right now is who’s playing Dorothy, and there’s a lot of talk about one young actress.

Alisha Weir, the Irish actress known for Matilda: The Musical and the horror film Abigail, has been rumored to play Dorothy in the sequel. The speculation started when she attended the first movie’s premiere, and it only grew from there. When asked about the rumors by RTÉ News, she admitted she was shocked.

‘When I [saw] it, I was like, “This is absolutely crazy.” And it went so crazy on social media, and everybody was asking me. I mean, that would be wonderful.
