Aaron Sorkin Is “Grateful” WB Literally Invented a Whole New Category to Convince NBC to Save the West Wing

From 1999 to 2006, Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing raged as one of the best serial political drama shows of all time, amusing audiences worldwide with its outstanding plotline as it brought about Martin Sheen’s President Josiah Bartlet and his administration’s ways of tackling multiple political issues to maintain peace and harmony in the nation.

However, before it even made its way to the screens, the masterpiece series was on the verge of almost not being made as NBC refused to buy the show right away. In fact, had production company Warner Bros. not decided to invent a whole new category to persuade the network into a purchase, perhaps the banger of a series wouldn’t have been saved!
