Russian Doll co-creator and The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland was attached to direct the film, but she has announced that she is no longer attached to the project.
Written by Taylor Jenkins Reid, the New York Times bestselling novel is about a reclusive, iconic Hollywood starlet Evelyn Hugo, who enlists unknown reporter Monique Grant to write her tell-all book, which will chronicle her life story and rise to fame during the golden age of Hollywood.
