Of all the themes presented in Attack on Titan, the exploration of humanity is easily the most intriguing. None of the characters are confined to the categories of “heroes” or “villains” as their motivations stem from the need to survive in an apocalyptic world. However, Eren and his followers were downright villainous with their twisted and narrow perceptions.

Eren’s biggest ally, Floch Forster, had great qualities to lead his comrades in stressful times. As admirable as his qualities were, he used them for all the wrong reasons. His journey from a side character in the Survey Corps to the harbinger of bloodshed was interesting but horrifying.
