Ahead of the arrival of their sixth full-length release, The Human Fear, Franz Ferdinand stopped by CBS Saturday Sessions for a performance of three of the new album’s tracks: “Bar Lonely,” “Audacious,” and “Night or Day.”

Bringing their alt rock prowess to the CBS stage, the band donned outfits in a coordinated orange-and-black color scheme, with frontman Alex Kapranos harkening back to the striped shirts from their You Could Have It So Much Better days. Performing the recent live favorite, “Bar Lonely,” for the first time on television, they leaned into the song’s wide dynamic range, shifting from its bass-led verses to its punchy, guitar-led choruses.

Likewise, performing The Human Fear’s two previously-released singles, “Audacious” and “Night or Day,” the band leaned into their clever arrangements and knack for unconventional harmonic progressions, all while new drummer Audrey Tait held down the floor.
