One year after creating a fictionalized civil war inside the United States, “Civil War” filmmaker Alex Garland has his eyes on a historical conflict. Garland and co-writer and co-director Ray Mendoza, an Iraq War veteran, are behind the new film “Warfare,” a real-time war film based on “the memory of the people who lived it.”

The project, which was announced earlier this year, is set during the 2006 Iraq War and focuses on “a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory.”

In keeping with classic war films of yesteryear – including classics like “The Thin Red Line,” “Saving Private Ryan,” and “Black Hawk Down,” Garland and Mendoza have enlisted an all-star cast of internet-approved young actors, including Emmy nominees D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai and Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo,...
