She lives a relatively lonely life, coping with medication while trying to find her voice again. Unfortunately, she cannot achieve the same heights she once did as a singer, and the strain of this is taking a toll on her body.

This culminates in Maria Callas' swan song and eventual death. It's her loyal maid and butler, Ferruccio Mezzadri, who finds her dead body. Throughout Angelina Jolie's Golden Globe-nominated biopic, which is now a streaming hit, Ferruccio is there for Maria through thick and thin, defending her from the paparazzi and doing whatever tasks she needs. Ferruccio is based on the real butler of the same name, who continues this line of work even after her death.
