A new generation of kids is about to learn what “Ohana” means.

On Monday, Disney released a teaser for its live action remake of “Lilo & Stitch,” its 2002 animated film. The short trailer features Stitch, the mischievous blue koala-like alien, stomping a sandcastle version of the Disney castle to smithereens before destroying a whole sandcastle city while laughing his head off.

“Lilo & Stitch” opens in theaters Memorial Day 2025. It will be Disney’s remake with the shortest gap between live action and animated versions until “Moana” is released. It tells the story of an orphaned, lonely Hawaiian girl, Lilo (Maia Kealoha), who befriends Experiment 626, a genetically engineered alien meant for destruction who crash-lands.
