Kevin Smith Says Dogma Sequel Is in the Works
After regaining control of the original 1999 film Dogma from Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Smith is moving ahead with plans for a sequel.
Smith shared the news during a 25th anniversary screening of Dogma at Vulture Festival over the weekend. “Some people will be like, ‘Don’t fucking touch it. You’ll ruin it,’” said Smith. “And I’m here to tell you: I will. I’m fucking tickled. I found a way in.”
The filmmaker also suggested that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who starred in the original film, would return for its sequel. After he helped the pair “save” their Academy Award-nominated film Good Will Hunting, Smith says the duo owe him. “I have been able to hold that over both their heads for 25 fucking years, which is why they keep showing up in all the movies.
