Writer Elisabeth Finch made headlines this week when it was revealed that the Grey’s Anatomy writer had faked her personal anecdotes about her illnesses and struggles with cancer, chemotherapy, abortion, and more. Finch had been actively publishing essays about her struggles while she was a part of the show and included many of them in the episodes.

With the Peacock docuseries Anatomy of Lies exposing Finch’s long con, the writer has been subjected to extreme scrutiny. According to Variety, Finch got the job to write for her favorite show Grey’s Anatomy after her essays on her struggles with chondrosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, got the attention of producer Shonda Rhimes.
