“Magazine Dreams” was supposed to get Jonathan Majors his first Academy Award nomination, until its release was canceled amidst the actor’s domestic violence trial last year. Now, the bodybuilding drama has secured a theatrical release. Deadline reports that Briarcilff Entertainment has picked up distribution rights and plans to release the film next year.

“Magazine Dreams” premiered at Sundance in 2023, where Searchlight picked it up for distribution after a bidding war and scheduled it for a December 2023 release. Majors received rave reviews for his disturbing performance as a bodybuilder whose mind and body deteriorate due to steroid abuse, and he was in the Oscars conversation.
