The One Piece live-action by Netflix has, so far, picked excellent actors for the characters. From the goofy Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy to the hardworking Taz Skyler as Sanji, the casting is on point and even handpicked by Eiichiro Oda. The ultimate reason is that they respected which ethnicity Oda meant the characters to be from and diversified smoothly.

One of the controversial aspects of the One Piece anime adaptation by Toei Animation is that they lightened the skin tone of several characters after the post-time skip who were initially more tan or darker. A prime example is Nico Robin whose design was unique and signature to her. Now that Netflix is set to introduce her very soon, they have the chance to correct what Toei did to her.
