Isabela Merced’s character in Alien: Romulus Kay was revealed to be pregnant early on in the movie, and when asked about who the father was, Kay had just brushed it off as ‘just some asshole.’
Though some audiences were fine with the quick dropping of the subject in the film, director Fede Alvarez reveals that the father of the child (who becomes very integral to the plot) was actually in the movie as well.

Talking to fans on Reddit (before he was mistakenly banned by a mod), a fan had asked Alvarez about the scene right before character Bjorn’s death. The fan asked, "Right before Bjorn's death, he and Kay share a moment where they touch each other in a very intimate way.
