“Allowing Eichiiro Oda’s darker version to shine”: One Piece Remake Will be Gory and More Violent Fixing One Criticism Against Toei Animation

Since its release in 1997, Eiichiro Oda’s renowned manga One Piece has been a staple in the anime and manga realm. Toei Animation has further enhanced the popularity of this series through its anime adaption. However, despite its success, Toei Animation has received its fair share of criticism for its censorship and toned-down portrayal of the manga’s darker themes. Manga readers have been yearning for an adaptation that captures Oda’s raw gritty vision for a long time.
