The future of Doctor Who was a hot topic of discussion at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Showrunner Russell T Davies gave fans some interesting insights into where the iconic British sci-fi show is headed creatively now that he’s back in charge.

Davies confirmed that those fun fourth wall breaks we saw in season 14 will stick around. “I think breaking the fourth wall is just part of the Doctor Who experience now,” he said. While past Doctors like Tom Baker have waved to the audience before, Davies has really leaned into it this season. Almost every episode featured a moment where a character acknowledges that they’re in a TV show.
