After almost three decades, Eddie Murphy’s most famous and goofy character, Axel Foley, is back on our screen with Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024). While binge-watching those first three films in the franchise, I found myself wondering what makes Axel so special. I mean, he definitely has Eddie’s charm and wit, but what else? I guess it’s the way Axel solves crime. He is not your regular law-abiding cop who follows a chain of command. Instead, Axel lays down his own path. In his own words, Axel wasn’t always a cop but someone who had “fractured an occasional law” as a kid. I guess you know what it means. So, Axel thinks like a criminal to solve crimes, which is one of the many qualities that makes him stand out. And Axel doesn’t take anything to heart. Even in the worst situations, he is flaunting his healthy gums.
