NBC has handed a series order to The Hunting Party, a high-concept crime procedural from JJ Bailey, The Endgame co-creator Jake Coburn and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. The pickup was teased by Universal TV President Erin Underhill in her Q&a with Deadline about the studio’s drama procedural business.

Created by Bailey, The Hunting Party is about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.

Bailey and Coburn will write, executive produce and serve as co-showrunners. Bailey, who wrote the pilot, has an overall deal with Utv. Jake Coburn has a first-look deal with the studio.
