It’s quite conspicuous that the opportunity to work with Christopher Nolan on arguably his most important project to date meant a lot to this year’s Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr. While prior to MCU, Rdj headlined several acclaimed gems, with Tropic Thunder even earning him an Oscar nod for the best-Supporting actor, his career since then has been dictated by Iron Man.
Considering that the role of Lewis Strauss came at a point when Rdj was adamant about working with an auteur with a vision for him that he couldn’t see for himself, he was ecstatic when Oppenheimer arrived. And following his charisma, Rdj has succeeded in bringing out a more playful side of Nolan, which the world hasn’t witnessed before.
