Viduthalai Part-2 is one of the most awaited Tamil films of 2024. The film is directed by Vetrimaaran, who is known for his realistic and hard-hitting films such as Asuran, Vada Chennai, and Visaranai. The film is based on the short story “Thunaivan” by B. Jeyamohan, which revolves around a police officer who is assigned to capture the leader of a separatist group.

The first part of the film, Viduthalai Part-1, was released on March 31, 2023, and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film starred Soori as Constable Kumaresan, Vijay Sethupathi as Perumal “Vaathiyar”, the leader of Makkal Padai (People’s Army), Bhavani Sre as Tamilarasi alias Pappa, the love interest of Kumaresan, Gautham Vasudev Menon as Dsp Sunil Menon, the head of the operation to capture Vaathiyar, and Prakash Raj as Munnar Ramesh, a corrupt politician who has a vested interest in the mining project that threatens the hill village of Makkal Padai.
