Wonka director Paul King reveals just how much real chocolate was used on the movie's set – and it's a lot. Based on the works of Roald Dahl and serving as a prequel to 1971's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular chocolatier and candy maker. The upcoming film will chronicle one of Willy Wonka's earlier adventures when he first comes into contact with the Oompa Loompas, the iconic workers that later become employees at his factory.

Ahead of the Wonka release date later this year, King reveals to People that filming the movie involved an on-set chocolatier and a "great deal" of real chocolate. Instead of a relying on a substitute, the movie even used a real vat of hot (lukewarm) chocolate in which Chalamet and costar Calah Lane could stand in. Check out King's full comment below:
