Final Destination established a formula that sets up a premonition of death, survival, and then Death catching up, but the franchise has since introduced exceptions and flaws to this design. One exception is the idea that new life can stop Death, as seen in Final Destination 2 when a survivor is resurrected, but this concept does not reappear in later films. Taking someone else's life and altering the order of Death's design are also methods used to cheat death, but these strategies are not foolproof and ultimately Death always comes back for what was originally intended.
