In an interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused YouTube channel, Nope creator Jordan Peele hinted that Nope's sequel's scariest scenes will be even scarier than the first. Though Peele claimed during the interview he had only begun writing, it was clear that he had some preliminary thoughts about a sequel, and how to build upon the mystery of Jean Jacket. According to Peele, Jean Jacket is designed after an angel in the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion that is modeled after descriptions of angels in the Book of Revelation. Jean Jacket shapeshifted into many forms, and was eventually destroyed by Oj (Daniel Kaluuya).
