The White Lotus season 2 star Haley Lu Richardson chimes in to defend her character Portia's choice of wardrobe from negative fan comments after the show's season finale. The White Lotus initially debuted in 2021 as a limited series, but season 2's return saw the show take off to new heights in viewership and online response. Much of that response centered on Richardson's character Portia (assistant to Tanya McQuoid) and her questionable outfit choices. Her fashion was slammed through White Lotus season 2's seven-episode run and now the actress has responded.

In an interview with Variety, Richardson defended Portia's wardrobe, saying that the choices made by the actress alongside costume designer Alex Boivard and White, were specifically to craft a unique look for Portia. Richardson went as far as to say she loved the end result because she felt it perfectly represented the place Portia is at in life when audiences see her.
