At the end of the Black Panther sequel, Shuri visits Nakia in Haiti and burns her funeral ceremonial robes, finally allowing herself to grieve for her brother and all the people she lost. Then she is introduced to her nephew, Toussaint, and learns that Nakia and T'Challa had a son. Moreover, Nakia explains that they wanted him to grow up away from the pressures of the throne and, therefore, she has been raising him in Haiti.

While the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever end-credit scene reveals the truth about Toussaint but not the deeper meaning behind his name. Having a character who is being raised in Haiti named Toussaint calls back to the nation's history.
