The Boys Was Originally Set in the Canon DC Universe
For a brief time, the hyper violent and crude superhero story, The Boys, was considered to be considered a canonical part of the DC Universe. The Boys' artist and co-creator Darick Robertson revealed how close fans were to seeing the titular CIA agents take care of DC's greatest heroes.
The Boys is a subversive superhero series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson that's set in a world where superheroes are not only real, they're the number one menaces to the public. The comic largely focuses on both a black ops group meant to keep the 'Supes' in line and the Justice League-like team, the Seven. Of all the Supes in The Boys, the Seven have some of the most out-of-control and most powerful people in their ranks. From a juvenile Flash to a psychotic Superman, the Seven don't do any favors for the superhero team they resemble.
