Avengers: Infinity Wars directors Joe and Anthony Russo have just acquired the rights to an illustrated novel from Simon Stålenhag called The Electric State. Apparently, there was a heated bidding war for the project and they ended up winning.

According to Deadline, they are also in talks with It director Andy Muschietti to helm the project and this sounds like an awesome, visually stunning film for him to work on! The script for the movie will be written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely who both wrote Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War.

The novel is a "re-imagined low tech apocalyptic mid 90s vision of the American West, with stunning visual artwork. The narrative artbook was produced through a Kickstarter campaign, a link worth watching because it conveys the visual scope with compelling images.
