Vision Films Allies With Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
Family movie specialist Vision Films has signed a distribution deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for its new releases in the United States and Canada, Variety has learned exclusively.

Lise Romanoff, managing director/CEO of Vision Films, said, “Our distribution agreement will be instrumental in the growth of our home entertainment division, further ensuring our role as one of the premier providers of independent films in the marketplace.”

The first title covered by the alliance is political satire “The Congressman,” which will be released first by RedBox on Aug. 9 and then by Sphe. The film is directed by Jared Martin and former congressman Robert Mrazek, and stars Treat Williams, George Hamilton, Elizabeth Marvel and Ryan Merriman in a story of sabotage, media manipulation and patriotism.

Mrazek served five terms as a Democratic congressman from New York between 1983 and 1993.
