“Laid In America,” a ribald buddy comedy toplined by digital stars Ksi and Caspar Lee, will be released Sept. 26 in the U.K. and the following day in the U.S.

The feature-length movie will have back-to-back London and Hollywood premieres with simultaneous release on Blu-ray Disc, DVD and digital download on day of the premieres. Universal Pictures is handling distribution for the film in the U.S., U.K., Ireland and Latin America; the producers are handling distribution for the rest of the world.

“Laid In America,” aiming to appeal to the kind of audiences that flocked to teen comedies like “American Pie” and “Superbad,” is the latest vehicle featuring popular social “influencers” — a strategy designed to rally their fanbases to pay for the content. Ksi, a gamer-comedian-actor-rapper whose name is Olajide Olatunji, has more than 13.8 million YouTube subscribers, while vlogger-actor Caspar Lee has more than 6.5 million.
