“Blurring the line between music and sound design” is the motto that greets you when you log onto Sample Logic‘s website. An ambitious statement, but when you see the awards Sample Logic has received since the company began putting together its catalogue of interesting sound libraries back in 2006, you see how it can support this claim. Cinematic Keys offers a lot more than the title suggests, and is a perfect example of Sample Logic’s motto; it covers realistic sounding traditional keyboard instruments, crossing over into score-ready, dark hybrid sound design. Sample Logic spent a great deal of time recording instruments in an orthodox way and then, quite literally, destroying the instruments with an array of power tools to create truly original and innovative sounds.
