'How I Met Your Mother' spoilers: 'Gary Blauman' isn't just about Gary Blauman
Fans who attended "How I Met Your Mother's" farewell session at the 2014 Paley Festival Saturday night (March 15) got a treat: a screening of Monday's episode, "Gary Blauman."
Blauman, played by "Saturday Night Live" regular Taran Killam ("Himym" star Cobie Smulders' real-life husband), is a minor character in the show's history, a co-worker of Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) who's appeared in a handful of episodes. As it turns out, he's also had a number of run-ins with the gang over the years, leading to a host of flashbacks.
What you should know up front is that the episode is not about Blauman -- he's a jumping-off point for a number of other stories. So if you were apprehensive that the episode would be akin to the final-season "Lost" episode "Across the Sea" that wasn't about any of the core cast (and, coincidentally, also aired two weeks before the series finale), you can rest easy.
