
Dubai Film Fest Selects 16 Projects for Co-Production Market

The projects will be in the running to tap a funding cashpool of more than $50,000 to bolster development and production budgets.
London -- Sixteen projects from various territories in the Middle East and North Africa, including Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Palestine, have been picked to take part in the co-production market for regional filmmakers during the upcoming Dubai International Film Festival (Diff).
The Dubai Film Connection (Dfc), now in its seventh year, aims to introduce Arab filmmakers to international film backers and organizations and offers over $100,000 in project seed funding.

Since its inception, the Dfc, whose mandate is to raise the visibility of Arab filmmakers and stimulate the growth of film production originating from the Arab world, has resulted in 35 films being completed -- with a further five in various stages of production.
