'Skins' star Jack O'Connell cast as lead in Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken'
Jack O'Connell has been cast in Angelina Jolie's latest movie Unbroken.
Best known as James Cook in Skins, O'Connell will play real-life World War II hero Lou Zamperini.
The film, produced by Jolie, is set in 1943 when Zamperini's Air Force plane crashed in the Pacific.
He survived without food and water for 47 days and had to endure shark attacks and aerial attacks before washing ashore on a Japanese island behind enemy lines.
He was held as a prisoner of war for two years and tortured by his captors.
The film will be based on Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 best-seller.
Jolie took over as producer for the film in December after William Nicholson and Richard Lagravenese had worked on the screenplay.
O'Connell will next be seen reprising the role of Cook in Skins Rise, airing later this month on E4 in the UK.
