Melbourne, November 5: Ricky Martin has obtained Spanish citizenship in order to marry his long-time boyfriend.
According to the Spanish daily El Pais, the singer wanted citizenship so he could get married to Carlos Gonzalez, with whom he is raising his twin sons Matteo and Valentino, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Ministers of the Spanish government agreed to grant citizenship to the singer and granted him a 'letter of naturalization'.
The letter is issued at the government's discretion and has been granted to Martin because of his 'personal and professional links with Spain'.
The country has legalised.
