After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of 2024 with a twelve month shooting schedule, wrapping at the end of December. Stranger Things Season 5 Must Break The Character Death Rule All 4 Seasons Have Followed So Far
Image
If Stranger Things wants to provide a rewarding conclusion to the fate of Hawkins, it must break one character death rule that all four seasons have complied with so far. The series rose to popularity after its premiere in 2016, and since then, the Duffer Brothers have been responsible for creating some of the most beloved characters on TV for Stranger Things. Although the series is praised for its intriguing story, stunning visuals, and homages to the 1980s era, audiences chastise one common theme — and Stranger Things season 5 only has one more chance to fix its most annoying problem.

The most recent season significantly raises the stakes for Hawkins' best defenders, but Stranger Things still has a lot of loose ends to tie up in the wake of Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). After eight years, it's becoming more obvious the Duffer Brothers are giving a wide berth to killing any of their established main characters.

Stranger Things is looking to recast Hopper’s late daughter Sara
Image
The character of Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things has a tragic history, having lost a young daughter named Sara to cancer – an illness he blames on the fact that he served in the Chemical Corps during the Vietnam War and worked with Agent Orange. Sara was glimpsed in flashbacks in the season 1 finale, where she was played by child actress Elle Graham. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is currently in production, and Sara will be making another appearance in this last batch of episodes – but that Stranger Things season 1 finale was eight years ago, so Graham, who is now 15 years old, has aged out of the role. That’s why Carmen Cuba Casting has sent out a casting call letting us know that Stranger Things is looking for a new, US-based actress who resembles Graham and can play Sara in Stranger Things season...

But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.

Stranger Things season 5 will begin filming in January

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, production is gearing up, and Deadline hears that Stranger Things season 5 is finally going to go into production in January. Specifically, they hear that cameras will begin rolling on either January 5th or January 8th.

They note, “Cast members are believed to already be in Atlanta, where Stranger Things films, for prep work, with table reads also slated for the next couple of weeks.” They add that most of the writing had been completed before the writers strike hit, but “faced with the prospect of filming without writers on set, creators, executive producers and showrunners the Duffer Brothers opted to instead postpone production, which was then...

Stranger Things season 5: David Harbour says the final season has a very real ending

Last week, Stranger Things cast member David Harbour said he expected to start filming season 5 of the hit Netflix series – which will also be the final season of the show – in “a couple days”. But first he had to make an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, and during the show he confirmed that season 5 has “a very real ending” that wraps up the story.

Harbour said (with thanks to Deadline for sharing his comment), “The beauty of it is, there’s a real ending. Stranger Things will end in a very real way. … The storyline of Stranger Things, from where we started with the Upside Down and that lab, to where we’re going in season 5 is one complete story, and it’s gonna end at the final episode of season 5.” He acknowledged that there’s still room for spin-offs and prequel stories like the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow,...

Stranger Things season 5 heads into production in a couple days
Image
The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. In fact, cast member David Harbour says it’s going to start filming in just a couple days!

Variety caught to Harbour at a BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America. When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, he said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?...

Stranger Things season 5 writers reveal the first lines from the season premiere script
Image
Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. It remains to be seen when filming is going to begin, but yesterday, November 6, 2023, was the 40th anniversary of the day Will Byers went missing in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of Stranger Things. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

Stranger Things: The Real Hellfire Club Explained
Image
Season 4 of Stranger Things introduces fan-favorite character Eddie Munson, the Dungeon Master of the Hellfire Club, a group of misfits who find empowerment and camaraderie. The Hellfire Club in Stranger Things draws inspiration from real-life 18th-century secret societies known for indulging in debauchery and mocking religion. Despite being accused of being a satanic cult, the Hellfire Club in Stranger Things serves as a safe haven for outcasts, much like its real-life counterpart.

Netflix's sci-fi horror TV series Stranger Things has always been a hit, but season 4 saw the show's popularity reach new heights with the introduction of fan-favorite character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), the Dungeon Master of Hawkins High School's Dungeons & Dragons group, the Hellfire Club. One of the show's defining features, Stranger Things' cast of characters are largely misfits who feel they are on the fringes of society whether it be Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and his friends...

Now Netflix has revealed that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5. They didn’t say which episode he’ll be directing – the premiere, the finale, some episode that will fall in between – but we will be seeing a Trachtenberg-helmed episode somewhere along the line.

Stranger Things season 5 was supposed to be filming right now, but the start of production has been delayed due to the writers strike.

Stranger Things season 4 had the following synopsis: It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for...

Disturbing Stranger Things 5 Theory Explains Why Vecna Kept His Victims' Bodies
Image
A Stranger Things season 5 theory reveals why Vecna didn't get rid of his victims' bodies. The villain was introduced in season 4 as the latest creature from the Upside Down that Eleven and her friends had to fight off. Vecna prays on those dealing with trauma, which is why Max, who recently lost her brother, Billy, was the perfect victim. While she initially got away from him with help from her friends and her favorite song, she wasn't as lucky at the end of the season when Vecna captured her again. The season ended with Max in a coma and her future in uncertainty.

Vecna also went after Chrissy Cunningham early in the season, as her trauma from her mother made it easy for her to fall into his hands. Stranger Things season 4 delved into Vecna's origin story as well, from his upbringing at the Creel House to becoming Dr. Brenner...

Vecna Will Target Nancy In Stranger Things Season 5 - But Will Do More Than Kill Her
Image
After the events of Stranger Things season 4, no one’s safety is guaranteed in the series’ upcoming fifth and final season, and Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) next target might have already been set up: Nancy (Natalia Dyer), but Vecna will do a lot more than kill her. Stranger Things season 4 solved a couple of mysteries left by the series’ previous seasons, such as Jim Hopper’s fate and who is in control of the Upside Down, but it also left many more questions after the introduction of Henry Creel, also known as 001 and Vecna, who turned out to be the main villain as he’s in control of the Mind Flayer and other creatures from the Upside Down.

If that wasn’t enough, Vecna terrorized Hawkins by targeting teenagers dealing with big amounts of trauma and killing them in the most horrific ways there could be, and sadly,...

Stranger Things season 5: David Harbour training and eating cheeseburgers to prepare for final season
Image
The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and filming is set to begin very soon. While cast member Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, has said that he will be reporting to the set in May, he co-star David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, revealed during the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi (as reported by Collider) that he will begin working on Stranger Things season 5 in June. And he promised that we can expect to see a Hopper who has been “well-fed” this time around, as opposed to the much smaller version of the character we saw in season 4.

Harbour was quoted as saying, “We’re walking into season 5. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season. I did a lot...

Stranger Things: Every Character Who Fell Under Vecna’s Curse
Image
Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) is the riveting villain of Stranger Things season 4, and his memorable curse affects several characters, killing some of them and injuring others. Throughout the Netflix series, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friend group have battled several villains, from creatures like The Demogorgon and The Mind Flayer to Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), who experimented on Eleven when she was younger. While these characters are strong and powerful, Eleven has been able to use her abilities to beat them. Every time the small town of Hawkins, Indiana is in danger, she has risen to the occasion. Vecna, however, has proven to be more difficult.

Vecna puts a curse on his victims by finding people who are dealing with tragedies and negative feelings like low self-esteem. When he has begun his process, his victims feel sick, their noses bleed, they have headaches, and they see things that aren't really there,...

Stranger Things: Sadie Sink says it’s “scary and sad” to be heading into final season
Image
The Netflix series Stranger Things will soon be heading into production on its fifth and final season – so soon that David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts at the same time in Atlanta this year. And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.

Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.

The most popular moment in season 4 of the Netflix series Stranger Things came when the character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) played guitar along to the Metallica song “Master of Puppets” while facing off with the forces of evil in the Upside Down. And during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained the decision to let the show use the song, and discussed what it was like to see the renewed interest in “Master of Puppets” thirty-six years after the song was first released.

Speaking with Stern, Ulrich said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “It used to be, with Metallica, we were always the ‘no’ guys. … A few years ago, we reversed it, we did a 180. We just said, ‘You know what? This is stupid. Why are we hanging onto these [songs] like they’re so important, like they’re the crown jewels? Let...

People Spooning, a show about rediscovering community through more intimate conversations, has unveiled a special Stranger Things week featuring newcomers from its historic fourth season: Audrey Holcomb (Eden), Logan Riley Bruner (Fred Benson), and Tristan Spohn (Two). They discuss the tipping points in their acting careers that led to booking professional work, nuances behind suddenly exploding on social media, and battling the imposter syndromes that come in a very up and down industry.

Logan Riley Bruner premieres December 2nd and Tristan Spohn premieres December 4th. New episodes will be uploaded every Tuesday, with occasional special themed weeks featuring two or three episode releases.

Tristan loved connecting with his cast-mates about how much the Stranger Things set feels like creating with family, easily bonding over Zoom despite having never met in-person.

With the Monday premiere receiving 8x the average first-day download, he's excited about the next phase of the show, which...

Stranger Things 5: David Harbour is going to pour his soul into the final season

David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, is going to be working on both the fifth and final season of Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts (where he’ll be reprising his Black Widow character Red Guardian) simultaneously for a while in Atlanta, Georgia next year, but that doesn’t mean the Stranger Things finale is going to receive any less of his attention that it deserves. In fact, during an interview with Collider Harbour said that he’s going to be pouring his soul into Stranger Things season 5.

Calling Hopper “the role of a lifetime in many ways”, Harbour said, “(Stranger Things season 5) will be my goodbye to Jim Hopper, which is a big deal. Fortunately, I feel like I have a long time to say goodbye because I think we’re going to take a long time shooting these episodes. … I...

Vecna's Name Is More Appropriate Than You Think In Stranger Things
Image
Stranger Things season 4 establishes Vecna as a powerful and menacing antagonist, preserving his name and title as "the god of secrets" from Dungeons and Dragons. The show has a history of referencing both niche and broad-sweeping pop culture lore, perhaps most prominently with the nomenclature of its villains. Dustin, Will, Mike, and Lucas are avid fans of the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, as first seen with their campaign in Stranger Things season 1. When spooky events transpire in Hawkins that parallel the storylines of the game's villains, the unlikely heroes begin naming their foes after familiar opponents.

Dungeons and Dragons monsters appearing in Stranger Things is a familiar occurrence. Stranger Things season 1 introduces the Demogorgon and season 2's big bad was the Mind Flayer, both sharing names with characters from the popular RPG. The key revelation in season 4 that Vecna was discreetly behind all of these villains makes the man...

Stranger Things Season 4, Part 2 Trailer Teases the End of Hawkins, Vecna's Last Stand, & More
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
Netflix's decision to save the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 until July 1 didn't go down well with fans.

The streaming service dropped a full-length trailer for the final two episodes on Tuesday, and it looks like we're in for another A+ conclusion for the 1980s-set drama.

The mission to save Hawkins is poised to be Eleven's biggest battle to date, and after learning how she and Vecna know each other on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, well, it's going to lead to some more heartbreak.

The trailer utilizes Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," once again to build the tension as all of these characters prepare to fight demons, both literal and physical.

One scene that sticks out from the trailer features Max caught by Vecna again, likely teasing a brutal beatdown between the pair.

We don't know whether Kate Bush's hit song will be able...

‘Stranger Things 4’ Broke Netflix’s 28-Day U.S. Viewership Record in Just 17 Days
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
“Stranger Things 4” viewership has been so strong it’s spooky. The fourth season of Eleven & friends’ sci-fi exploits just broke the “Bridgerton” Season 2 record for most hours viewed within a show’s first 28 days and it only needed 17 days to do it. Through those two-and-a-half weeks, “Stranger Things” Season 4 amassed 781.04 million hours viewed, according to Netflix’s own internal tally. (“Stranger Things 4” added another 159.24 million hours this past week.)

Not only did “Stranger Things” Season 4 not require the full four weeks to shatter the previously-held English-language TV record, it also didn’t need its final two supersized episodes to do it. Those, which include the nearly two-and-a-half-hour season finale, drop July 1; the first seven episodes of the penultimate season landed on Netflix May 27.

Last week, “Stranger Things 4” ranked third all-time (with 621.80 million hours viewed) on Netflix’s Most Popular TV (English) list, behind Season 1 of Shonda Rhimes’ “Bridgerton” (625.49 million) and...

Stranger Things: Netflix Shares First Look at Final Episodes of Season 4!
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
The end is nigh for the residents of Hawkins.

Netflix on Tuesday unveiled photos for the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4.

These episodes are set to drop on the streaming service around the globe on Friday, July 1, and will prepare fans for the final season of the sci-fi drama.

We see Eleven and Benner in one of the photos, presumably in the aftermath of her failed escape from the bunker.

Eleven finally knows the truth about what happened in the lead-up to the Hawkins Laboratory Massacre, something that will stick with her as she embarks on her journey.

The youngster's journey has been about getting answers to the blanks in her memory, coming to terms with her powers, and saving her friends.

Given where we left the rest of the characters on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, we're in for a lot of drama.

Many of the characters are trapped in the Upside Down,...

We Have a Theory: Ms. Kelly From "Stranger Things" Is Connected to Vecna
Image

While "Stranger Things" viewers are loving Argyle (Eduardo Franco) and Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), another season four newcomer has been met with suspicion. In episode one, we meet Ms. Kelly, the Hawkins High School guidance counselor played by Regina Ting Chen. At first, she seems genuinely interested in helping Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) work through her trauma, but as the season progresses and other Hawkins students die, she becomes more and more suspect. In fact, some fans are convinced she's evil - like, working-with-Vecna levels of evil. And ya know what? We agree. Let's break down the theory, shall we?

For starters, Ms. Kelly always wears a gold necklace adorned with a clock pendant, and grandfather clocks are synonymous with getting killed by the villainous creature Vecna. Sure, it could be a mere coincidence, but the pendant is also shaped like a key, and observant fans think...
