This week Elizabeth Olson became the latest castaway in “Survivor” history to go down as the “merge boot.” Typically at merge the player seen as one of the biggest threats in the game is eliminated first–exactly what kind of threat that player is varies greatly depending on the cast and the alliances of their season. In Elizabeth’s case she was voted out unanimously, on one hand a volatile personality that was targeting strong Goliath members and on the other a viable sacrifice her fellow Davids were willing to make.
So how does Elizabeth stack up when compared to merge boots of the past? Below take our poll to decide who was the biggest merge threat in “Survivor” history. To help you decide we’ve narrowed the field down to our Top 12 and most iconic contenders for the title and offer a brief analysis of why they were threatening below.

Wednesday’s “Survivor: Ghost Island” season finale was one for the record books, as Domenick Abbate and Wendell Holland tied for the win at the final tribal council. In the end, non-tied finalist Laurel Johnson was given the power to cast the deciding vote and she chose Wendell, with whom she had a closer personal relationship on the island. While some of our readers are happy that Wendell joined the “Survivor” winners list, the vast majority believe that Domenick was robbed.

The “Survivor” reunion show used to be a place for castaways to air their grievances, recall their favorite moments and get emotional about their time on the island. For one hour, the players would gather in front of a live studio audience immediately following the announcement of their winner and let loose with host Jeff Probst. However, over the past few years the “Survivor” reunion show has slowly been snuffed out before our eyes.

We knew the final vote would be close, but who could have predicted it would be This close? After 36 seasons, “Survivor” history was made during Wednesday’s “Ghost Island” finale when Wendell Holland and Domenick Abbate tied for the win. They both received five votes from the 10-person jury, while the third finalist Laurel Johnson received no votes. Did this mean that Wendell and Domenick got to split the $1 million prize? After last week’s twisted two-immunity, two-tribal council double elimination, we’re down to the Top 8 on “Survivor: Ghost Island.” Because there’s an even split of four men and four women, we’re dividing this week’s power rankings up by gender. What will Domenick Abbate do with his legacy advantage? That’s the question on the mind of every “Survivor: Ghost Island” fan as we head into the highly anticipated merge episode. The legacy advantage, which gives the bearer immunity, can only be used when there are 13 people left in the game or when there are six people left in the game. We have finally reached the first threshold, but only 34% of fans say that Domenick will use it this week. Instead, a whopping 49% vote that he will hold onto it until the Final 6. The other 17% don’t think he’ll use it at all, suggesting either he won’t need it or that he’ll be voted out with the legacy advantage in his pocket.

What strategy do you employ when predicting who will be named the winner of “Survivor: Ghost Island”? One clue some prognosticators use is the “winner’s edit,” the belief that producers of the long-running reality TV show typically provide the eventual winner a favorable, heroic and/or ever-present edit throughout the season. One easy way to narrow down which players have favorable edits is to decide which players don’t — consider Chelsea Townsend and Libby Vincek who have been narratively invisible for much of the season so far. It’d be hard to build an argument for either of them to be the beneficiaries of winner’s edits when we know so little about who they are as players and strategists.
Instead, look to the players that have had an abundance of confessionals, are edited into episodes they might otherwise not have an important role in and are shown narrating...

On Wednesday’s seventh episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island” Bradley Kleihege looks to be in danger of heading home, according to our official predictions. This Haslett, Michigan resident has rubbed many of his cast members the wrong way, however he still has a numbers advantage on his new Naviti tribe along with original allies Domenick Abbate and Chelsea Townsend. Bradley has leading 11/5 odds to go home in “Gotta Risk it For the Biscuit,” but should he survive the vote, Libby Vincek is next on our elimination chart with 5/2 odds.

After being voted out of “Survivor: Ghost Island” in Wednesday’s sixth episode, James Lim tells us that he was simply outnumbered following the season’s second tribe swap. “I thought I had done a pretty good job of flipping Angela Perkins to our side,” James readily admits. “But Kellyn Bechtold on the other side was playing this game of tug-of-war with me with Angela in the middle, and she won at the end with her narrative of Naviti strong.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview podcast above.

Why does James think that his ally Michael Yerger also voted to eliminate him? “I think Michael in turn was playing kind of like a self-preservation mode game where he had just gone through a nightmarish time on Malolo and he’s right back on Malolo and he’s back in the minority.

Who was voted out in Wednesday’s sixth episode of CBS’s “Survivor: Ghost Island”? Prior to the episode airing, Gold Derby’s exclusive odds predicted that Malolo’s Bradley Kleihege would be eliminated following the season’s second tribe swap. However, Jeff Probst‘s tease that there’d be a “brand new start to Ghost Island” was sure to shake up the game. So did our “Survivor” predictions come true this week?

Wednesday on Episode 6 of “Survivor: Ghost Island,” the Naviti and Malolo tribes will be mixed up for the second time this season. In the past we’ve seen tribe swaps be detrimental to someone’s game, like Morgan Ricke who was eliminated after being placed on a team with a numbers disadvantage. This week our readers predict that a similar fate will befall Bradley Kleihege, who has leading 2/1 odds to be the sixth castaway sent home. Do you agree or disagree with those odds? Sound off down in the comments section.

“Survivor” fans, is Ghost Island a bust? Specifically, we’re talking about the twist itself and not the overall 36th season of CBS’s reality TV show. In fact, this season’s cast makes for great TV and we can’t wait to see how next week’s second tribe swap will shake things up. But the twist of having castaways visit Ghost Island where they’re supposed to come face to face with the mistakes of past players hasn’t really panned out as fans hoped it would. Let us know your thoughts on Ghost Island by voting down in our poll.

Prior to the episode airing, Gold Derby’s exclusive odds predicted that Naviti’s Chris Noble would be eliminated following his ever-growing feud with tribe mate Domenick Abbate. Based on Gold Derby’s exclusive predictions, Laurel Johnson is the new pick to win “Survivor: Ghost Island” following last week’s episode in which she learned about Domenick Abbate‘s hidden immunity idol. Domenick had previously told Laurel about his fake idol, but now she’s one of the few people (along with Wendell Holland) who knows that he also has a real idol.

According to Gold Derby’s exclusive predictions, the ever-growing feud between Chris Noble and Domenick Abbate will reach its apex on Wednesday’s fifth episode of “Survivor,” titled “A Diamond In The Rough.” These two castaways have been going at each others’ throats since Day 1, despite Domenick trying to make good with Chris by showing him his [fake] hidden immunity idol. The only problem? Chris recognized that the idol was likely fake, so all trust was lost. Our predictions favor Chris to go home this week with leading 8/5 odds, while Domenick looks to be safe as he only has 50/1 odds.

The new version of the Maolo tribe will win both the Reward and Immunity challenges on the March 14 episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island.” That will put someone from the Naviti tribe in the crosshairs for elimination at the end of the episode entitled “Trust Your Gut.” It looks like Chris Noble, who was one of the original members of that team, will be sent packing at the tribal council. For a preview of the episode, including a closer look at both challenges, click through the photos above.
After the swap in episode three, the Naviti tribe is comprised of three original members besides Noble — Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Angela Perkins — and four Malolo players: Donathan Hurley, Laurel Johnson, James Lim and Libby Vincek. If Noble is bounced, that means that some of his original teammates turned against him.
The Malolo tribe still has Jenna Bowman, Stephanie Johnson, Brendan Shapiro and Michael Yerger.

The Maolo tribe is coming off wins over the Naviti tribe in both the Reward and Immunity challenges on “Only Time Will Tell,” the March 7 episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island.” Heading into a second week of starvation mode, there are bound to be shifts in the strengths and weaknesses of the two rival camps. According to Gold Derby’s exclusive predictions, Brooklyn, New York resident Chris Noble will be voted out of “Survivor” following his brief stint at Ghost Island. After last week’s tribe swap, Chris remained on the Naviti tribe along with original members Morgan Ricke, Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Angela Perkins. The four Malolo players who joined them were Donathan Hurley, Laurel Johnson, James Lim and Libby Vincek. If our predictions hold true that Chris is headed home, does that mean Domenick, Wendell and/or Angela abandon their old Naviti tribal lines and join up with the Malolo castaways?

Is the “Survivor” legacy advantage actually cursed? That’s what we asked Morgan Ricke following her elimination from the third episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island.” “You know, I’ve said all along I don’t believe in curses. But Sierra Dawn Thomas opened her mouth, so it was cursed. And then Jacob Derwin opened his mouth and told Stephanie, so it was cursed. So you know what? I kept my mouth closed. Everyone keeps telling everyone about this advantage, so we’ll all see together if I was able to reverse the curse by keeping my mouth shut for once.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview podcast above.
