This week Elizabeth Olson became the latest castaway in “Survivor” history to go down as the “merge boot.” Typically at merge the player seen as one of the biggest threats in the game is eliminated first–exactly what kind of threat that player is varies greatly depending on the cast and the alliances of their season. In Elizabeth’s case she was voted out unanimously, on one hand a volatile personality that was targeting strong Goliath members and on the other a viable sacrifice her fellow Davids were willing to make.

So how does Elizabeth stack up when compared to merge boots of the past? Below take our poll to decide who was the biggest merge threat in “Survivor” history. To help you decide we’ve narrowed the field down to our Top 12 and most iconic contenders for the title and offer a brief analysis of why they were threatening below.

Wednesday’s “Survivor: Ghost Island” season finale was one for the record books, as Domenick Abbate and Wendell Holland tied for the win at the final tribal council. In the end, non-tied finalist Laurel Johnson was given the power to cast the deciding vote and she chose Wendell, with whom she had a closer personal relationship on the island. While some of our readers are happy that Wendell joined the “Survivor” winners list, the vast majority believe that Domenick was robbed.

Heading into the seventh installment of Survivor: Ghost Island, "Always Be Moving," it was hard to imagine how anyone could topple the dynamic duo of Domenick Abbate and Wendell Holland, the two players firmly in charge of the game ever since booting Chris Noble at the top of the merge — at least not without some help from Laurel Johnson and Donathan Hurley, Domenick and Wendell's secret allies who were frequently courted by the other players ...

CBS will air the two-hour season finale of “Survivor: Ghost Island” on Wednesday, May 23 beginning at 8 p.m. Et/7 p.m. Ct. The original cast of 20 has been culled to just six castaways still in contention for the title and the $1 million prize. Four members of the original Naviti tribe remain in the running: Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland Jr., Sebastian Noel and Angela Perkins. Only two of the original Malolo tribe are still standing: Donathan Hurley and Laurel Johnson.

While Holland has the best odds to win according to our exclusive “Survivor” predictions, it’s still anyone’s game according to Jeff Probst, who has hosted all 36 seasons of the show. He assures viewers that there is a lot more drama to come on this installment of the reality-series competition series. As he told EW, “It is far from over.”

On Thursday night’s merge episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island” the brewing war between Chris Noble and Domenick Abbate finally came to a head, resulting in an iconic blindside of Chris who was eliminated in a near-unanimous vote at a tribal council (his first!) he couldn’t even vote at with a hidden immunity idol safe (and unused!) in his pocket. What will Domenick Abbate do with his legacy advantage? That’s the question on the mind of every “Survivor: Ghost Island” fan as we head into the highly anticipated merge episode. The legacy advantage, which gives the bearer immunity, can only be used when there are 13 people left in the game or when there are six people left in the game. We have finally reached the first threshold, but only 34% of fans say that Domenick will use it this week. Instead, a whopping 49% vote that he will hold onto it until the Final 6. The other 17% don’t think he’ll use it at all, suggesting either he won’t need it or that he’ll be voted out with the legacy advantage in his pocket.

This season the legacy advantage has been in several people’s hands, but no one has had the ability to use it yet.

What strategy do you employ when predicting who will be named the winner of “Survivor: Ghost Island”? One clue some prognosticators use is the “winner’s edit,” the belief that producers of the long-running reality TV show typically provide the eventual winner a favorable, heroic and/or ever-present edit throughout the season. One easy way to narrow down which players have favorable edits is to decide which players don’t — consider Chelsea Townsend and Libby Vincek who have been narratively invisible for much of the season so far. It’d be hard to build an argument for either of them to be the beneficiaries of winner’s edits when we know so little about who they are as players and strategists.

Instead, look to the players that have had an abundance of confessionals, are edited into episodes they might otherwise not have an important role in and are shown narrating...

On Wednesday’s seventh episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island” Bradley Kleihege looks to be in danger of heading home, according to our official predictions. This Haslett, Michigan resident has rubbed many of his cast members the wrong way, however he still has a numbers advantage on his new Naviti tribe along with original allies Domenick Abbate and Chelsea Townsend. Season 36 of “Survivor” began with the Malolo tribe against the Naviti tribe. On Day 15, Jeff Probst announced another tribe swap.

The new version of Malolo tribe includes Desiree Afuye, Kellyn Bechtold, James Lim, Angela Perkins and Michael Yerger.

This iteration of the Naviti tribe is made up of Domenick Abbate, Donathan Hurley, Bradley Kleihege and Chelsea Townsend.

The third tribe, Yanuya, is new and consists of Jenna Bowman, Wendell Holland, Laurel Johnson, Chris Noble and Sebastian Noel.

The new version of the Maolo tribe will win both the Reward and Immunity challenges on the March 14 episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island.” That will put someone from the Naviti tribe in the crosshairs for elimination at the end of the episode entitled “Trust Your Gut.” It looks like Chris Noble, who was one of the original members of that team, will be sent packing at the tribal council. After the swap in episode three, the Naviti tribe is comprised of three original members besides Noble — Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Angela Perkins — and four Malolo players: Donathan Hurley, Laurel Johnson, James Lim and Libby Vincek. If Noble is bounced, that means that some of his original teammates turned against him.

According to Gold Derby’s exclusive predictions, Brooklyn, New York resident Chris Noble will be voted out of “Survivor” following his brief stint at Ghost Island. After last week’s tribe swap, Chris remained on the Naviti tribe along with original members Morgan Ricke, Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Angela Perkins. The four Malolo players who joined them were Donathan Hurley, Laurel Johnson, James Lim and Libby Vincek. If our predictions hold true that Chris is headed home, does that mean Domenick, Wendell and/or Angela abandon their old Naviti tribal lines and join up with the Malolo castaways?

Chris leads our elimination predictions for Season 36, Episode 4 with 9/10 odds, far ahead of his closest competitor Donathan at 13/2 odds. Rounding out the five most likely candidates to be ousted are Bradley Kleihege at 15/2 odds, Domenick at 14/1 odds and James at 20/1 odds.
