Wild Wild Punjab Review: A Trip Lost in Translation
Image
Khanna and his friends share an important bond, the kind that withstands life’s difficulties. So when heartbreak strikes Khanna, his friends rush to support him—even embarking on a sunny road trip straight to his ex’s wedding. Directed by Simarpreet Singh with a screenplay by Luv Ranjan and others, Wild Wild Punjab aims to take this crew on a carefree comedy cruise through Punjab’s picturesque towns and countryside.

Of course, the best-laid plans have ways of going awry. Playboy Maan, family-tied Gaurav, enthusiastic Honey, and brokenhearted Khanna load into Honey’s colorful truck for the short drive to Pathankot. But unexpected turns soon emerge, as funny incidents like a mistaken marriage swiftly pull our travelers off course.

Did the film manage to keep its road trip rolling on a path of pure pleasure? Or did diverting storylines and character issues bog things down?

By exploring how the...

‘Wild Wild Punjab’ Movie Cast And Character Guide
Image
Wild Wild Punjab has to be one of the insanely weird movies to have explored a comedy of errors by taking the Hangover route. Funnily enough, there is a reference to this cult-famous Hollywood film in Simarpreet Singh’s Wild Wild Punjab, which is all about a boy trying to find a cure for heartbreak, followed by closure. This is a Netflix original that has all kinds of quirky characters that add color to the movie.

Spoilers Ahead

Honey Singh

The amazing Manjot Singh from the Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Fukrey films adds life to his character Honey Singh through Wild Wild Punjab. In this movie, Honey Singh is the richest and is proud of his heritage, part of which is his inheritance of the truck business from his beloved father. Honey loves and respects his deceased father, and he is always offended if anyone tries to tarnish his father’s image.

‘Wild Wild Punjab’ Movie Spoilers And Summary Explained: Did Khanna Get His Closure?
Image
There are all kinds of stories coming out of Punjab these days, as mentioned in several articles before. Kohrra, Tabbar, Cat, Chamak, and the latest one, which received audience acclaim, Amar Singh Chamkila. These stories do not wish to romanticize the luscious farms of the state and the people who would, if you went by Hindi films, begin dancing at the drop of the beat. Wild Wild Punjab, directed by Simarpreet Singh, is the story of four friends who, on the way to confront the ex-girlfriend of one of them, find themselves in a lot of trouble.

Spoilers Ahead

Was Gaurav afraid of his father?

The movie begins with Maan Arora, a womanizer, trying to get intimate with his girlfriend. All of this was happening while he was in his best friend Gaurav Jain’s car. Gaurav was from a rich family but had an emotionally abusive father who controlled his life.

“Wild Wild Punjab”: India’s Netflix Cinematic Extravaganza
Image
“Wild Wild Punjab” is an Indian comedy directed by Simarpreet Singh starring Patralekhaa Paul, Sunny Singh and Varun Sharma.

If you were tickled by the zany antics of “The Hangover” (2009) featuring Bradley Cooper, where friends following a wild night in Vegas have no recollection of their outlandish adventures, “Wild Wild Punjab” is sure to capture your interest. The film, which shares a similar plot to The Hangover, albeit set in India and imbued with the distinct flavor of Bollywood, is a pure comedy designed to entertain – a goal it wholeheartedly achieves thanks to four brilliant performers who each play their parts to comedic perfection. And yes, the film does include fun musical numbers typical of Bollywood.

The storyline of “Wild Wild Punjab” revolves around four friends who embark on an intoxicating journey, which spirals out of control due to their excessive alcohol consumption. One of them ends up married in a strange place.

‘Wild Wild Punjab’ Netflix Review: The Road Trip Comedy Movie Is Unfunny, Loud, And Exhausting
Image
Streaming platforms like Netflix are often accused of being the dumping ground for movies that were meant for theatrical release but then the distributors and the producers backed out because they thought it wouldn’t be a profitable venture. How can you tell if a made-for-theater movie is being dumped for streaming? Well, made-for-theater movies start with the animated production logo video and a short or long list of people that the makers want to thank; straight-to-streaming films don’t have that. Anyway, I believe that every movie should be released in theaters because you never know whether or not it’ll find an audience and rake in an unexpected amount of money. I also believe that films should get a theatrical release, even if it’s a limited one, because every filmmaker wants their film to be projected on the biggest possible screen instead of being used as background noise.

Filthy ‘Over The Top’ Ott content: The court steps in
Image
If there is a law in place, one is bound to follow it and behave accordingly. In the United Kingdom, all movie and Ott content is subject to censors and, all major platforms that operate there, have been getting their content duly rated from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). The only Ott platform that had avoided committing itself to this system was Amazon Prime. It has now signed up for the British Content Rating Guidelines and offers age-wise ratings for content.

As many as 29 Video On Demand and Ott streaming platforms operate in the UK and all of them provide age ratings for their content. The censorship of films in India is a British legacy, of course. The intentions were different when it was launched. The British Raj wanted to curb anything that smacked of being against it. The Indian State has continued to subject films to censorship...

Delhi Hc upholds action against Tvf web series 'College Romance' for vulgar language
Image
New Delhi, March 7 (Ians) The Delhi High Court has ruled that the language used in web series “College Romance,” which is streaming on the over-the-top (Ott) platform Tvf, is filthy, profane, and vulgar and will deprave and corrupt the brains of young people.

The obscenity of the language used in the episodes, according to single-judge bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, was so extreme that it was impossible for her to hear in the chamber without shocking others in the vicinity.

“This court notes that this is not the language that nation’s youth or otherwise citizens of this country use, and this language cannot be called the frequently spoken language used in our country,” the judgment noted.

The judge ruled that Tvf, the show’s director Simarpreet Singh, and actor Apoorva Arora are liable to face action under Information Technology (It) Act’s Sections 67 (publishing or transmitting any material...
