Back in November, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Funny or Die regular Luke Barnett, who co-wrote, acted in, and produced the Christian film industry satire Faith Based, had signed on to star in a thriller called Teacher’s Pet. That project has since made its way through production, and our friends at Bloody Disgusting – along with director Noam Kroll himself – have confirmed that Barnett is joined in the cast by Clayton Royal Johnson (Stranger Things), Kevin Makely (Young Rock), Drew Powell (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Sara Tomko (Resident Alien), Josh Pafchek, genre icon Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), and newcomers Michelle Torian, Alexe-Anne Godin, and Makenna Ginn.
Kroll wrote a blog entry about the making of the film, complete with behind-the-scenes images, that can be read at This Link. Kroll made his feature directorial debut with the 2012 drama Footsteps and has followed that up with the mystery thriller Shadows on the Road, the thriller Psychosynthesis,...

Lana Del Rey has taken petty to the next level after the singer revealed she put up just one billboard to promote her new album… in her ex-boyfriend’s hometown.
Earlier this month, the “Video Games” singer announced her ninth studio album, titled Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, will be dropping on 10 March 2023. Along with the announcement, Del Rey released the album’s title track.
While many artists go to great lengths to promote their forthcoming projects, Lana Del Rey has taken things to the next level. On her private Instagram page, called @honeymoon, the 37-year-old singer posted a selfie with the billboard and revealed its location.
“There’s only one and it’s in Tulsa,” she captioned the post, referring to the Oklahoma city that’s home to her ex-boyfriend Sean Larkin.

Elsie Fisher and ‘My Best Friend’s Exorcism’ Cast Embrace the ’80s at Carnival-Themed Premiere Party
Though many of them weren’t even alive in the 1980s, the cast of “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” said it was a dream come true to recreate the era for their new film.
Now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, the horror-comedy held its world premiere Thursday night at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica as part of the 2022 Beyond Fest Film Festival. The afterparty was held at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, where guests could play carnival games and feast on funnel cakes and nachos.
Based on Grady Hendrix’s novel with a screenplay by Jenna Lamia, “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” is directed by Damon Thomas and centers on best friends Abby (Elsie Fisher) and Gretchen (Amiah Miller), who are struggling with high school when another challenge is thrown their way — Gretchen begins exhibiting signs of demonic possession. In desperation she turns to Christian Lemon (Christopher Lowell), a...

Based on the bestseller by Grady Hendrix, My Best Friend’s Exorcism is the 1980s set tales of Gretchen and Abby. They’re typical teen movie friends, they come from different religious, social, and economic backgrounds but attend the same private school thanks to Abby’s scholarship.
But that friendship is threatened by Gretchen’s parents’ plans to move at the end of the school year. But in the meantime, there are better things to do than worry, like spending the weekend at a lakefront cabin owned by their friend Margaret’s parents. Their friend Glee is invited along, Margaret’s boyfriend Wally isn’t but shows up anyway.

Review: I’ve really been looking forward to My Best Friend’s Exorcism for quite some time. Grady Hendrix‘s book has great reviews and the announcement of the cast sealed the deal. But what I didn’t expect was how exceptionally made the film is. What could have been a shallow look at possession in the 90s, turns into a character study that uses the time period as a way to further the story at every turn. And I was on board for every minute.
Exorcism stories have never been easy to pull off. Outside of The Exorcist, there are very few films that live up to the concept. Thankfully, My Best Friend’s Exorcism really...

The recent outpouring of love for Netflix’s Do Revenge has demonstrated that there’s an appetite for a modern and more malevolent take on the classic teen movies we revere. My Best Friend’s Exorcism is the latest example of this pleasing new twist on the genre and, although far from perfect, it’s an endearing and entertaining ride.
Abby (Elsie Fisher) and Gretchen (Amiah Miller) have been as close as sisters since fourth grade and have every reason to believe they’ll be best friends forever. So far they’ve supported one another through acne, body dysmorphia, religious zeal, inappropriate crushes and high school…there’s no reason to think that a little thing like demonic possession will come between them.
Margaret (Rachel Ogechi Kanu) and Glee (Cathy Ang) round out their friendship group and together the girls form a supportive and tight unit; essential for surviving life at their uptight,...

We may joke that teen girls are possessed, but the creators behind “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” take that concept to heart. Based on the book by Grady Hendrix, director Damon Thomas’ adaptation is centered on a pair of inseparable best friends dealing with a shattering blow when one of them is overtaken by a satanic spirit. Though this ’80s-set horror-comedy takes an old-school approach to capturing the horrific happenings, the stunts are lackluster and the comedic hijinks are a tiresome bore. With very little interest conjured from the filmmakers to properly develop their characters, there’s little incentive to stay interested.
Abby’s (Elsie Fisher) greatest fear in life is losing her best friend Gretchen (Amiah Miller). Little does she know their relationship will be put to the test, and not solely because Gretchen’s scheduled to move over the summer. The pair are in a world of their own,...

The “Bff Quiz” was a staple of the Eighties teen girl magazine. Back then, the media treated young women with open contempt. Female friendship was deemed too fickle and too poisonous to be determined by feelings – no, the only way to know if your bestie was really your bestie was to have them answer 12 hypothetical questions. Would they tell you if your new Esprit skirt was actually hideous? Would they get jealous if you started dating one of the popular boys? Would they douse your body in holy water if a supernatural entity took possession of your soul?
In My Best Friend’s Exorcism, banishing demons is the ultimate test of teen girl loyalty. It’s a devilishly smart and self-aware take on the current trend for Eighties horror homage, lovingly adapted from Grady Hendrix...
