Christopher Landon Says Melissa Barrera's 'Scream 7' Firing Was Not His Fault
Image
Scream 7 was almost undone following the firing of Melissa Barrera, the departure of Jenna Ortega, and director Christopher Landon leaving in the wake of the controversy. Now the Drop helmer has opened up about the issues he faced for even being part of the movie following Melissa Barrera’s firing, which is something he reiterated he was not responsible for despite those sentiments being shared online.

Speaking to Vanity Fair in support of his new movie, Drop, Landon shared the truth about Barrera’s firing, and how he was unable to influence it in any way. He said:

“I did not fire her. A lot of people think I had something to do with it, and it was not my doing. I had no control of the situation at all. I think in the absence of people understanding how Hollywood works and what the hierarchy is, the fans were like,...

Jenna Ortega: My Scream 7 Exit “Had nothing to do with pay or scheduling”
Image
Jenna Ortega made many headlines after leaving the Scream franchise despite enjoying success. She joined the movie series as Tara Carpenter in 2022’s Scream and became a popular character. However, following Scream VI, she denied her involvement in the seventh film, citing scheduling conflicts.

Now it is reported that Ortega’s exit from Scream 7 was not linked to any payment or scheduling issue. She did not have a good feeling about everything that was going on behind the scenes and decided to drop the project.

Scream 7 became a hot topic of discussion after Melissa Barrera was fired for her social media posts on the Hamas-Israel conflict. But the woes did not end as both Jenna Ortega and the director, Christopher Landon, also abandoned the movie.

Every Character Rumored to Return For Scream 7 (& Where They Left Off)
Image
Not much is known about Scream 7 yet, and perhaps that's a good thing. Scream is a beloved horror comedy franchise built on satire, gore, and surprise slasher reveals at the end. So, part of the fun is having no clue what's happening before the movie starts, but sometimes the biggest teasers come with the cast list. It's no secret that the casting decisions for the Scream franchise have been messy in the past. The first issues arose with the franchise's original star, Neve Campbell, as she dropped out of 2023's Scream VI on less-than-happy terms over a payment dispute she deemed disrespectful.

The story went in a different direction, focusing entirely on Sam and Tara Carpenter, introduced in 2022's Scream. But, then, of course, near the end of November 2023, Scream 7's production company, Spyglass, fired Sam's actor, Melissa Barrera, and subsequently lost Tara's actor, Jenna Ortega, and its director,...

"I Don't Know How It Works": Scream 7 Returning Ghostface Actor Is Also Confused How They're Returning After Being Killed Off
Image
While thrilled about his return, Scott Foley admits he's still not sure how his Scream 7return is going to work. Plot details remain unclear for the latest installment in the slasher horror franchise, though the movie is set to be a more direct sequel to the Sidney Prescott-focused films, as everyone from Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers to David Arquette's Dewey Riley are returning alongside Neve Campbell. Scream 7 is also being helmed by Kevin Williamson, the creator of the series and scribe of the first two and fourth movies.

During a recent appearance on Good Morning Americato discuss his upcoming Will Trent season 3 appearance, Foley was asked about his upcoming Scream 7 return. The star quickly admitted to being unsure just how his return as former Ghostface killer Roman Bridger, even opening up the conversation to others so that "someone can explain it to me". Scream 7 add two more potential victims with Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro
Image
Scream 7 is well into production, but that doesn’t mean a couple more potential victims (or killers) can’t be added to the cast, as Deadline reports that Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro have signed on.

Randolph has been making big waves as the breakout star of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, where she plays the daughter of Billy Bob Thornton’s character. She also has a main role in another Sheridan series, 1923. As for Tatro, he’s best known for American Vandal, The Real Bros of Simi Valley, and starring alongside Topher Grace in Home Economics.

The cast of Scream 7 is pretty packed, including plenty of characters from across the franchise. After sitting out the last movie due to a pay dispute, Neve Campbell returns to star as Sidney Prescott. Courteney Cox is also back as Gale Weathers, as is David Arquette as Dewey Riley. Matthew Lillard will...

David Arquette Sets ‘Scream 7’ Return as Dewey
David Arquette
Woodsboro’s favorite deputy sheriff is back in town: David Arquette will officially reprise his role as Dewey Riley from the first five “Scream” movies in the upcoming seventh installment of the horror franchise.

It’s not yet clear exactly how this is possible, as Dewey was vicously stabbed to death in the fifth film, “Scream” (2022), by Ghostface (later revealed to be Mikey Madison’s Amber Freeman). But he isn’t the only miraculous resurrection in the “Scream” universe: Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard are also set to revive their now-deceased characters in Spyglass and Paramount Pictures’ “Scream 7.”

Familiar faces Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown are also set to star, alongside “Scream” newcomers Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Joel McHale, Asa Germann, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos and Ethan Embry.

Cox previously expressed hope that filmmakers could find a way to bring Dewey (who...

Spyglass and Paramount Pictures have assembled quite the cast for Scream 7, including a few blasts from the past who are somehow returning from the dead. Deadline reports that the latest addition to Scream 7 is David Arquette, who will be returning as Deputy Dewey Riley.

Along with Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, Arquette was a member of the original cast who appeared in every Scream movie until he was surprisingly killed off in the fifth movie. Patrick Dempsey confirms that he won't be returning as Mark Kincaid in Scream 7
Image
We all saw it coming, but that doesn't mean we wanted it to be true. Two-time Golden Globe nominee Patrick Dempsey has confirmed that he will not be reprising his role as Homicide Detective Mark Kincaid in the long-awaited Scream 7. This news comes only a few months after learning that Joel McHale joined the cast as Sidney Prescott's husband, Mark Evans.

If you remember from Scream 3, Sidney and Kincaid shared a budding romance, with much of their relationship development happening off-screen. In Scream (2022), it seemed like Sidney and Kincaid were still together, even married, when Dewey Riley mentioned Sidney's marriage to a man named Mark. However, it turns out that the "Mark" Dewey referred to was actually Mark Evans since that's who Sidney's husband is in the upcoming seventh installment.

After learning that McHale would be playing Sidney's husband, it was pretty much a given that Dempsey wouldn't be coming back.

Patrick Dempsey missed out on Scream 7 due to scheduling issues

It has been established in the Scream franchise that heroine Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is married to a man named Mark, who viewers will be introduced to in the currently-filming Scream 7. Most fans assumed that her husband was Mark Kincaid, a character she met in Scream 3, where he was played by Patrick Dempsey. But Scream 7 has been filming since the start of January, and Dempsey is not in the movie. Instead, this film will reveal that Sidney’s husband is Mark Evans, played by Joel McHale (Community). Now, Dempsey has confirmed to Variety that he was in talks to reprise the role of Mark Kincaid in the new Scream sequel, but the scheduling didn’t work out.

Dempsey told Variety, “It just didn’t work out and we were dealing with the fires and everything that was going on and the schedule didn’t work out, unfortunately.

Patrick Dempsey Reveals Why He's Not in 'Scream 7'

For a while there, it seemed like we would see the love story between Sydney Prescott (Neve Campell) and Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) play out in Scream 7. As franchise fans will recall, the two were very much a thing in Scream 3, and when we learned in Scream 5 that Sydney was married to Mark... all the pieces seemed to connect, and fans were excited about the continuation of Sydney and Mark's love story. Fast-forward to January 2025: we learned that Joel McHale would join the franchise as Sydney's husband, Mark Evans.

While initial reports indicated that Dempsey was in talks to return to Scream 7, negotiations ultimately failed. Dempsey has now confirmed the reason: scheduling conflicts brought on by the catastrophic California wildfires. Speaking with Variety, Dempsey revealed:

New Reports Share More Light on Matthew Lillard’s Role in the Upcoming ‘Scream 7’
Image
Matthew Lillard is finally coming back to the Scream series in ‘Scream 7’ as the star confirmed with his Instagram post. Fans remember him as Stu Macher, one of the original Ghostface killers from the 1996 film directed by Wes Craven. His return is unexpected, since Stu was last seen being crushed by a heavy Crt television, which seemed to kill him. But in horror movies, death isn’t always final, and now, almost 30 years later, he’s back.

How Stu is returning is still a mystery. Some believe he somehow survived, while others think he could have a twin or even be part of something supernatural. Lillard himself has teased the idea that Stu might still be alive.

Now industry insider Daniel Richtman shed some more details on his return. On his Patreon, Richtman suggests that Matthew Lillard’s character, Stu, isn’t just making a brief appearance in Scream 7,...

Matthew Lillard Will Return As Stu Macher In Scream 7
Image
It's a truth universally acknowledged that if you don't physically see a character die on screen, then they simply are not dead. Hell, sometimes you do see them die and they still come back. But in the case of Matthew Lillard's Scream fan favourite Stu Macher, the Og Ghostface killer seemed pretty damn dead when last we saw him, having just had a live 50-pound Crt TV dropped on his head after trading cuts with fellow stab-happy psycho Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich). But as the mad man himself once said, "These days you've gotta have a sequel!" And so, per Deadline's reporting (and Matthew Lillard's Instagram), Stuart 'Stu' Macher will be back in Kevin Williamson's upcoming Scream VII.

News of Lillard's role reprisal comes hot on the heels of this evening's other eye-catching Scream 7 casting announcement, which is the return of another long presumed dead Ghostface to...

Scream 7: Matthew Lillard joins the cast of the new sequel
Image
Deadline reports that Matthew Lillard has joined the cast of Scream 7. Yes, you read that right. The actor played Stuart ‘Stu’ Macher in the original Scream movie.

Spoilers for a nearly thirty-year-old movie here, but ol’ Stu didn’t exactly fare too well in the first Scream movie. After being unmasked as one of the killers and suffering from stab wounds, he was ultimately killed (or was he?) when Sidney (Neve Campbell) dropped a TV on his head. And this was a ’90s TV, folks. None of this lightweight flatscreen shit. So, given what happened to Stu, it’s not clear how Lillard will be returning or even if he’ll be playing a different character. The last two Scream sequels did bring back Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis, but he only appeared in Sam’s (Melissa Barrera) visions. Could they be pulling something similar here? Perhaps flashbacks? I suppose anything is possible.

'Scream 7' Casts 'Scream 3' Star Scott Foley

AlrightScream 7, you already had my attention, but now you Really have my attention with this latest bit of casting news. Not sure if they're doing something out of the box meta here, retconning something from a previous installment, or if this character is back from the dead. But someone just joined the cast of the seventh installment who was already a part of the Scream universe – and it's someone who presumably died.

Per Deadline, Scott Foley has officially joined the cast of Scream 7. This is interesting news because the former Felicity star already has a connection to the franchise, although it appeared that his character bit the dust. Foley previously appeared in Scream 3 as Roman Bridger, a character at first introduced as the filmmaker who was directing the film within a film, Stab 3, which was based on the life of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and the events in Woodsboro.

Another Mark has joined the cast of Scream 7 — but it’s still not the Mark we want. Just a little over a week since it was revealed that Joel McHale (Community) would be stepping into the role of Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) husband, Mark Evans, Deadline reveals that Riverdale’s Mark Consuelos will also add his name to the movie’s unending call sheet — seriously, this thing is longer than a Cvs receipt. As of right now, no details surrounding Consuelos’ character have been revealed, but he’s certainly the latest left-field addition that has shocked the fandom in recent weeks.

Why Joel McHale Being Cast in the New ‘Scream’ Movie Is Pissing Off Fans
Image
Joel McHale seems to be everywhere these days: Animal Control, those creepy flashbacks in The Bear, countless interviews in which he’s badgered about the current status of the Community movie. Well, now Chevy Chase’s former wrestling opponent is set to star in the seventh entry in the Scream franchise. But a lot of fans aren’t happy about it.

It was recently announced that McHale has been cast as the husband of Neve Campbell’s character Sidney Prescott. While Campbell wasn’t in the last movie due to a pay dispute, Sidney did briefly appear in the fourth sequel to Scream, which was, confusingly, also called Scream.

The Sidney of 2022 is happily married, has a couple of kids, and is generally enjoying a life free from being constantly prank-called by costumed serial killers.

We also learn that Sidney’s husband’s name is “Mark.” For Scream fans, that...

Is Patrick Dempsey in 'Scream 7'? Confusing Casting Finally Explained
Image
Scream fans were left a little confused last week when it was announced that Joel McHale would be joining the franchise to portray Sidney Prescott's husband in the upcoming sequel, and not Patrick Dempsey, who played the character of Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3. The question of whether McHale was playing the same person came up a lot, but as it turns out, he's playing a different Mark. Mark Evans, to be exact, and we now have some clarification as to why that is, and why Dempsey isn't returning to the franchise.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Dempsey was in negotiations to return for Scream 7, but following the news of McHale joining the franchise, they reached out to representatives for Spyglass and Dempsey to learn that those negotiations never came to fruition. Mark was briefly mentioned in 2022's Scream to be Sidney's husband, and in Scream 6 was said to be "in hiding.

Sidney Prescott's Scream 7 Return Can't Ignore Sam & Tara's Story For One Big Reason
Image
Scream 7 is bringing Sidney Prescott back (Neve Campbell) now that Sam (Melissa Barrera) and Tara (Jenna Ortega) are gone, but the stories of the latter two can’t be ignored for one big reason. The Scream saga has seized the rise and popularity of horror reboots and legacy sequels and made a successful comeback 11 years after the release of Scream 4. 2022’s Scream kicked off the reboot trilogy and introduced a new generation of Ghostface killers and targets, led by sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter.

Scream 2022 saw the return of Sidney, Dewey (David Arquette), and Gale (Courteney Cox) to aid Sam, Tara, and their friends during the new Woodsboro murders. Sam, Tara, their surviving friends, and Gale returned in Scream 6 to confront another Ghostface killer now in New York City, while Sidney was said to have gone to a safe place with her husband and children. 3 Years Later, Scream 7 Just Ruined One Of The Best Sidney Prescott Story Reveals From The Reboot Movies

Scream 7 has officially ruined one of the best Sidney Prescott revelations from the Scream reboot. Scream 7 Missed The Opportunity To Complete A Replacement The Franchise Needs

Scream 7 could be the biggest iteration in the franchise yet, but a recent casting announcement means a major franchise replacement can't happen. While Scream has become somewhat formulaic since its 1996 debut, each movie continues to expertly deliver upon the element of surprise that has become synonymous with the franchise. Details about the plot of Scream 7 remain undisclosed at this time, but director Kevin Williamson's upcoming project is slated for 2026. Did Scream 7 Recast Patrick Dempsey With Joel McHale? Who Sidney's Husband Mark Is
Image
It’s now been confirmed that Joel McHale will be playing Sidney’s husband, Mark, in Scream 7, a role that was previously implied to be played by Patrick Dempsey’s same-named franchise character. With Neve Campbell reprising her role as the iconic final girl Sidney Prescott in Scream 7’s cast, the franchise is returning to its focus on her family and never-ending battle with Ghosfaces. However, since Campbell was notably absent from Scream 6 (2023) and had a smaller role in Scream (2022), knowledge about her family in the reboot movies has only been revealed through brief references.

When Sidney Prescott returned after a decade-long gap between Scream 4 (2011) and Scream (2022), it was revealed that she had since gotten married, had kids, and moved away from Woodsboro. In Scream 6, Sidney’s husband was only referred to as “Mark,” with her kids still being unnamed. Even though there wasn’t...

Patrick Dempsey’s ‘Scream 7’ Return Is Officially Dead
Image
On Thursday, the Scream fandom was hit with some particularly tough news after it was revealed that Community alum, Joel McHale, would be starring in the upcoming seventh film as the husband of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. It’s not that there’s some secret beef brewing between the comedy actor and the horror franchise’s following, but it’s a casting that cuts deep for those of us who were certain that Sidney’s husband was going to be Patrick Dempsey’s Detective Mark Kincaid. Although, there were some who were still holding onto hope that Detective Kincaid, who was first introduced in 2000’s Scream 3, would pop up in the upcoming film in a different way. Today that dream has died, as Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Dempsey will in no way be involved with Scream 7.

Scream 7 Casts Joel McHale In A Surprisng Role; Jasmine Savoy Brown To Return As Mindy
Image
We recently learned that Mason Gooding will return as Chad Meeks-Martin for the next Scream movie, and Variety has now confirmed that the final member of the "Core Four" - now that Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega have left the franchise - will also be back, with Jasmine Savoy Brown set to reprise her role as Chad's sister, Mindy.

Deadline is also reporting that Joel McHale has joined the cast... as Sidney Prescott's (Neve Campbell) husband!

Patrick Dempsey was expected to return as Sid's other half, Detective Mark Kincaid, but his involvement was never confirmed. McHale will play a new character named Mark Evans. We have no idea why he was given the same first name as Kincaid, but there's already speculation that he's going to turn out to be Ghostface.

Exactly how many masked maniacs will be targetting our returning heroes remains to be seen, but we now know...

Jasmin Savoy Brown Will Return For 'Scream 7'
Image
Filming on Scream 7 is finally underway, and the cast keeps growing. Following a controversial development period — which included firing Scream VI star Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega leaving the project — the cast for the seventh entry in the horror franchise is taking shape with the return of one of the "core four" introduced in the 2022 installment, Jasmin Savoy Brown.

In a new report from Variety, it has been confirmed that Jasmin Savory Brown will reprise her role as Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream 7. Mindy Meeks-Martin is the twin sister of Mason Gooding's Chad, and they are the nephew of Jamie Kennedy's Randy Martin from Scream and Scream 2. Brown previously played Mindy in both 2022's Scream and the sequel Scream 6, with the character being the first openly queer character in the franchise's history. She is also known for her role as Teen Taissa Turner on the hit Showtime series Yellowjackets.

Jasmin Savoy Brown officially returns as Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream 7
Image
Variety reports that Jasmin Savoy Brown has officially signed on to return as Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream 7. She joins Mason Gooding, who plays Mindy’s brother Chad.

Scream 7 will see the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. After playing the role in the first five Scream movies, she was expected to return for the sixth until the studio low-balled her. “As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream,” Campbell said. “I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It’s been a very difficult decision to move on.” Courteney Cox is also back as Gale Weathers, which will make her the only actor (with the exception of Ghostface voice artist Roger L. Jackson) to appear in every Scream movie.

'Scream 7' Adds 'Community' Star Joel McHale as Sidney Prescott's Husband
Image
The cast of Scream 7, the upcoming sequel from the horror franchise created by Wes Craven almost 30 years ago, has just gotten bigger. Community star Joel McHale, whom you've also seen recently in series like The Bear, will be joining the franchise to play Mark Evans, Sidney Prescott's husband and one of the few characters in the Scream-verse whose existence is known but has never been featured on screen. And no, he's not Patrick Dempsey's Mark Kincaid from Scream 3.

Per Deadline, McHale is currently shooting the film in Atlanta with his co-stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and Mason Gooding. Other cast members include Isabel May, who's playing Mark and Sidney's daughter, as well as performers like McKenna Grace, Celeste O'Connor and Anna Camp.

The film, which has an official release date of Feb. 27, 2026, is being directed by Kevin Williamson from a script by Guy Busick. Williamson is a Scream vet,...

‘Scream 7’: Joel McHale Set to Play Sidney Prescott’s Husband
Image
Joel McHale is set to play Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) husband in “Scream 7,” according to an insider with knowledge of the project.

In the last couple of movies, Sidney’s husband has been referred to as “Mark,” with David Arquette’s Dewey even asking Sidney how Mark was. The long-running inference was that Sidney had married Mark Kincaid, the character played by Patrick Dempsey in “Scream 3.” Radio Silence, the filmmaking team behind 2022’s “Scream” and 2023’s “Scream VI,” confirmed that this was, indeed, Mark Kincaid that they were referencing. But McHale is playing a new character, Mark Evans, breaking from the pre-established lore.

McHale joins a cast which includes Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, and new cast members Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Anna Camp.

The seventh installment of the classic meta-horror franchise will be released on Feb. 27, 2026. Created by Kevin Williamson...

Scream 7's Latest Casting Has Horror Fans Scratching Their Heads
Image
The "Scream" franchise is always throwing a curveball or two at fans with every installment, but it's safe to say this newest casting report is taking things to an even more confusing extreme. Despite getting a fresh and modernized update starting with 2022's annoyingly-titled "Scream" (which was actually the fifth movie in the property) and continuing with "Scream VI," the future of the horror brand has remained somewhat up in the air following the twin departures of new leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Of course, that hasn't stopped Paramount from attempting to forge on ahead anyway with these proven money-making sequels by doubling down on nostalgia, bringing back Neve Campbell's final girl Sidney Prescott for "Scream 7" and even roping in original architect/writer Kevin Williamson as director, too.

Now, however, the latest twist in this saga is raising a lot more questions than answers for fans.

Scream 7 Casts Sidney's Husband (& It's Not Patrick Dempsey)
Image
It looks like Sidney Prescott never rekindled her romance with Mark Kincaid after all. Instead, she married Mark Evans, who will be played by Community alum Joel McHale in Scream 7.

Deadline was the first to report the latest Scream 7 casting. Ever since Scream (2022) mentioned that Neve Campbell's Sidney had married someone named Mark, fans had heavily speculated that the Mark in question was Patrick Dempsey's Detective Mark Kincaid, who appeared in Scream 3. It's even possible that the plan was always for Sidney's Mark to have been Detective Kincaid, with Dempsey revealing back in October 2024 that he had been approached to appear in Scream 7, but was "waiting on the script." Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Dempsey will be part of Scream 7, with McHale already in Atlanta shooting his scenes for the upcoming slasher sequel.

Scream 7 adds Joel McHale as Sidney’s husband Mark
Image
Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial pay raise – and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after. So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role, while Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream, directs the film from a screenplay by 2022’s Scream...

Joel McHale Joins 'Scream 7' in a Part That Will Surprise Hardcore Fans
Image
Somewhere in cinema heaven, Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) is pissed. Why, you ask? Because another funny guy solidified the deal and got the girl, with Deadline exclusively announcing that silly dude Joel McHale will appear as the husband of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott in Scream 7. Yes, please take a moment to clutch your pearls and practice your breathing exercises - we know we are over here at Collider. But save some space for more shock because it’s about to get weirder. If you (like literally everyone else) thought that Patrick Dempsey would be returning to the seventh installment to reprise his role as Detective Mark Kincaid from the third film, you’d be on the right track but dead wrong. In 2022, it was teased that Sidney’s husband’s name was “Mark”, leading the fandom to believe that Sidney had found love in a hopeless place by...

Joel McHale Joins ‘Scream 7’ As Sidney Prescott’s Husband Mark
Image
Exclusive: Scream franchise final girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has a husband, and it’s not Detective Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) of Scream 3, as has been speculated online. Set to play her spouse, Mark Evans, in Scream 7 is none other than Joel McHale, who’s currently in production on the film in Atlanta.

McHale joins a cast also featuring Courteney Cox and Mason Gooding, who respectively play legacy characters Gale Weathers and Chad Meeks-Martin, as well as newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Anna Camp. While May is playing the daughter of Prescott — last seen in 2022’s Scream reboot — further character details for new additions are under wraps, as is the plot of the latest installment in the meta horror franchise from Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.

Joel McHale is Mr. Sidney Prescott in Scream 7

The Scream franchise is sort of rebuilding itself again after a not-so-amicable parting with Melissa Barrera and the exit of Jenna Ortega, the on-screen sister duo that helped revitalize the series. After those high-profile exits, suddenly money freed up in the budget for the high-profile re-entry of Neve Campbell, the series' longtime final girl.

Scream 7 Rumored Plot Details May Reveal A Significant Ghostface Spoiler
Image
Before we get started: This will not have anything to do with the identity of Scream 7's Ghostface - it's not that big a spoiler!

Even so, if you'd rather know as little as possible about the movie going in, here's your spoiler warning.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via FearHQ.com) the next instalment in the iconic horror franchise will once again feature more than two killers.

Honestly, this really wouldn't be too surprising, since the third film is the only one that didn't have at least two Ghostfaces working together, and a previous rumor claimed that the story will revolve around Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and some new characters defending Sid's family from some kind of Ghostface cult.

Exactly how many masked maniacs will be targetting our returning heroes remains to be seen, but we have heard that there will be a "big time jump" following the events of the last movie,...

Scream 7 Officially Begins Shooting; Director Kevin Williamson Shares New Title Logo
Image
Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson - who wrote Wes Craven's original slasher classic - has announced that filming is now officially underway on the latest instalment in the iconic horror franchise.

The filmmaker shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set, giving us a first look at the new title logo. As expected, this next film will ditch the Roman numeral sequencing of the previous two movies.

"I’m not supposed to post about Scream and I hope @spyglassmediagr and @paramountpics will forgive me but when you have one of the best days of your life it’s really hard to keep it to yourself," Williamson captioned his post. "What an extraordinary day I had working with an amazing and talented cast and crew. They brought their “A” game and had my back every step of the way. I’m so very grateful for this opportunity and to Wes Craven...
