In a new report from Variety, it has been confirmed that Jasmin Savory Brown will reprise her role as Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream 7. Mindy Meeks-Martin is the twin sister of Mason Gooding's Chad, and they are the nephew of Jamie Kennedy's Randy Martin from Scream and Scream 2. Brown previously played Mindy in both 2022's Scream and the sequel Scream 6, with the character being the first openly queer character in the franchise's history. She is also known for her role as Teen Taissa Turner on the hit Showtime series Yellowjackets.

Despite getting a fresh and modernized update starting with 2022's annoyingly-titled "Scream" (which was actually the fifth movie in the property) and continuing with "Scream VI," the future of the horror brand has remained somewhat up in the air following the twin departures of new leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. It looks like Sidney Prescott never rekindled her romance with Mark Kincaid after all. Instead, she married Mark Evans, who will be played by Community alum Joel McHale in Scream 7.

Deadline was the first to report the latest Scream 7 casting. Ever since Scream (2022) mentioned that Neve Campbell's Sidney had married someone named Mark, fans had heavily speculated that the Mark in question was Patrick Dempsey's Detective Mark Kincaid, who appeared in Scream 3. It's even possible that the plan was always for Sidney's Mark to have been Detective Kincaid, with Dempsey revealing back in October 2024 that he had been approached to appear in Scream 7, but was "waiting on the script." Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Dempsey will be part of Scream 7, with McHale already in Atlanta shooting his scenes for the upcoming slasher sequel.
