"Are you afraid there's a killer... out there?" Shudder has unveiled a super bloody trailer for the Canadian horror comedy film titled Slaxx, about a possessed pair of jeans. This premiered at last year's Fantasia Film Festival, and we featured a promo trailer back then. "From the producers of Turbo Kid comes a new type of killer, a pair of jeans, in this raucous horror-comedy." When a possessed pair of jeans begins to kill the staff of a trendy clothing store, it is up to Libby, an idealistic young salesclerk and a hew hire, to stop its bloody rampage. Starring Romane Denis, Brett Donahue, Sehar Bhojani, Kenny Wong, Tianna Nori, and Hanneke Talbot. I was already looking forward to this last year with the first trailer, now I'm double sold! I'll take two pairs, please! This is an extra bloody, gory trailer so don't watch it with any kids around,...

"Our next contract's a big one..." Neon has finally debuted a full-length official trailer for the uber-violent sci-fi horror film Possessor, the latest film from filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg (son of the iconic David Cronenberg). Everyone loved the teaser for this a few months ago. It first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to quite a bit of buzz, only allowing 18+ to watch it because of graphic sex, nudity, and violence. And it seems they'll be releasing an "Uncut" version - using that buzz as marketing. Possessor follows an agent who works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people's bodies - ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients. The thriller stars Andrea Riseborough, with Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sean Bean, Tuppence Middleton, Christopher Abbott, Kaniehtiio Horn, Rossif Sutherland, Christopher Jacot, and Hanneke Talbot. I still think the first teaser trailer is better,...

Produced by The Horror Collective parent company Entertainment Squad, Slaxx is the latest collaboration between Anne-Marie Gélinas and Shaked Berenson, who brought the world 2015’s cult hit Turbo Kid – and tells the story of a possessed pair of jeans which come to life and terrorizes the staff of a trendy, vapid clothing boutique!
Set to have it’s world premiere at this year’s Fantasia Film Festival, Slaxx has been acquired by Shudder and will debut on the streaming service in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand next year.
Slaxx directed by Elza Kaphert, who co-wrote the film alongside Patricia Gomez, and stars Romane Denis (True North), Brett Donahue (Total Recall), Sehar Bhojani (The Handmaid’s Tale), Kenny Wong (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Tianna Nori (Letterkenny), and Hanneke Talbot (Ready Or Not), sees a possessed pair of jeans brought to life to punish the unscrupulous practices of a trendy clothing company.

The most uneven of David Cronenberg’s early commercial horror features, the 1977 “Rabid,” was nonetheless probably the biggest success among them, in large part due to the novelty value of seeing “Behind the Green Door” porn superstar and erstwhile Ivory Snow detergent-box model Marilyn Chambers in a lurid mainstream vehicle. It’s also the one ripest for remake, if only because his just-prior “Shivers” aka “They Came from Within” and ensuing “The Brood” should be left alone — largely reviled upon release, they’re now rightly considered genre classics. Lacking their outrageous ideas and cumulative narrative momentum despite some striking elements, “Rabid” nonetheless has a strong-enough basic concept to warrant revisiting.
In theory, “twisted twins” Jen and Sylvia Soska are fair candidates for that job: Like Cronenberg, they’re Canadian, attracted to body-horror, and have cut their own path from micro-budget projects toward the mainstream. They also claim they dislike remakes as a rule,...

Titans season 2 employs a time jump for a second episode that feels more like a season premiere.

Titans Season 2 Episode 2
Picking up three months after “Trigon,” the second episode of Titans Season 2, “Rose,” is a tight story that sets up new mysteries, and introduces fresh threats – making it feel more like a premiere than last week’s installment.
Straightaway, it’s worth mentioning how the action has benefited by jumping forward a few months. The team is in training, and while there remains tension, cohesion is setting in. Teagan Croft appears more settled as Rachel, and as a result, the character is more likable – even though we do see the darkness that continues to haunt her. Ryan Potter’s Gar and Curran Walters’ Jason work as squabbling teammates, and their sparring scene is fun, even if Gar is the weaker link at the moment.

A tale of the nefarious plots of a diabolical family that made its wealth off board games, “Ready or Not,” at its best, calls to mind some devilish delights of the 1970s, from the antique-toy-stuffed manor of the original “Sleuth” to the jet set’s homicidal party games in “The Last of Sheila” to the ever-resilient final girl of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
Some of its turns are better than others, but since this is the kind of twisty, hard-r comedy of gamesmanship and survival that Hollywood never seems to make anymore, fans of the genre are better off celebrating the film’s triumphs than picking over its occasional disappointing rolls of the dice.
Australian actress Samara Weaving, giving what can be legitimately termed as a “star-making performance,” plays Grace, who’s about to marry Alex (Mark O’Brien), scion of the rich and powerful Le Domas family. Just before the ceremony,...
