Mariska Hargitay On Benson’s ‘Law & Order: Svu’ Future
Image
Law & Order: Svu is returning for its impressive Season 26. Even more impressive is that one of the show’s original stars, Mariska Hargitay, is still the lead in the cast. She is the only person remaining from the first season, although Ice-t has been on almost as long, joining the show in Season 2.

In a recent interview, Hargitay talked about 25 seasons of playing Olivia Benson and when that might be coming to an end.

Mariska Hargitay has been on Law & Order: Svu for a quarter of a century. With the 26th season coming and Olivia Benson still the lead character, many wonder when Hargitay might be ready to call it quits. She talked about that in a recent interview.

Law & Order: Svu Shocker: Who's Out?
Mariska Hargitay in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999)
When Law & Order: Svu returns for Season 25, it will be without a familiar face.

According to TV Line, Molly Burnett is bowing out as Det. Grace Muncy as a series regular.

Burnett's exit played out during the conclusion of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3, which served as a crossover with Svu.

Muncy revealed to Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) that Chief Tommy McGrath (Terry Serpico) had rewarded her dedication to the Elias Olsen case by giving her a spot on a DEA task force.

As a result, Burnett is no longer a series regular, but that doesn't mean she won't pop back up down the line.

If the Law & Order universe has taught us anything, former stars are never truly gone and pop back up when there's a story to tell.

Wolf Entertainment, which produces Svu, shared a clip of Molly's goodbye in more detail.

Burnett initially appeared...

‘Law & Order: Svu’ Star Molly Burnett Exits After Less Than a Year
Molly Burnett
Molly Burnett, who plays Detective Grace Muncy on “Law & Order: Svu,” is leaving after less than a year on the crime series, according to media outlet’s reports.

Burnett is the latest “Law & Order” actor to make their departure from the show, following news that original cast member Kelli Giddish, who reprised her role as Amanda Rollins, was leaving the series.

Burnett’s character Detective Grace Muncy made her debut during Season 24 of the show in the episode “The One You Feed,” which aired in July of 2022. Muncy’s exit was revealed in Thursday night’s episode, a joint crossover season finale of “Law & Order: Svu” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Wolf Entertainment tweeted an extended version of Muncy’s farewell on Friday. TheWrap reached out to NBC for comment.

‘Law & Order: Svu’: Octavio Pisano on Velasco’s Joy for Rollins’ Return in Season 24 Finale
Image
A very familiar (and dearly missed!) face is coming in to help out as two Law & Order shows, Svu and Organized Crime, wrap their current seasons. Kelli Giddish, who exited in the winter finale of Svu, is back as Amanda Rollins (who’s now pregnant!), who left the NYPD to go teach at Fordham, is returning. So, of course, TV Insider had to ask Octavio Pisano what he could tease while discussing Detective Joe Velasco dealing with his past in the latest episode. “I can’t say much. I can only say that Velasco is very happy to see her and very excited,” he shared. “That was his big sister when he came in and she took him under his wing. She taught him a lot of things when it came to dealing with victims and the process of a Special Victims Unit.” With Giddish appearing on both Organized Crime...

‘Law & Order: Svu’: Octavio Pisano Says Velasco Proved Himself to Benson But Still Needs Closure
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Svu Season 24 Episode 19, “Bend the Law.”] When Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) was younger, he and a friend were involved in a double homicide; the now-detective had been unable to pull the trigger, but his friend could and covered for him with the cartel. Now, on Law & Order: Svu, Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) orders Velasco to bring Chilly (Joseph Castillo-Midyett) to justice. Though Churlish (Jasmine Batchelor) goes with him, Velasco speaks with his old friend alone, and Chilly says he’s leaving what happened in the past … but that wasn’t the last time he killed someone. It’s a recording of that — it’s illegal to do so in Maine — that Velasco gives to Benson upon returning from his trip. He feels like he did the right thing but still feels pretty bad. Eventually, unburdening himself will feel good, the captain tells him. She’ll decide who to ...

‘Law & Order: Svu’: Octavio Pisano Says Velasco’s ‘Conflicted’ About Bringing His Friend to Justice
Image
Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) must face his past in the April 27 episode of Law & Order: Svu — and he can’t say no because it’s on Captain Olivia Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) orders. Previously, Velasco was forced to reveal that, when he was younger, he and a friend, Chilly, were sent to a school for hitmen; the only way to leave was in a body bag. However, when it came time for the “final test,” Velasco couldn’t pull the trigger. Chilly could and covered for him with the cartel. Velasco then ran. Once Benson found out, she told him that he owed a debt to those two people who were killed, and for them to be Ok, he had to bring his friend to justice. Now, in “Bend the Law,” that time has come. “He’s a little conflicted, obviously, and he might think that he can...
