Writer, director, and producer Blaine Isreal was raised in Southern California. After attending UCLA for a BA in creative writing, he studied Meisner, Grotowski, and Adler at conservatories in San Francisco. He then lived in several countries in Asia acting in television and film before returning to the USA to attend NYU for his MFA in film directing under the mentorship of Todd Solondz, Spike Lee, and Alex Rockwell. He then studied cinematography at FAMU in Prague. In 2024 he was invited to the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab and was included in the Directors Unit at the Actors Studio. He is a recipient of the Rolly Bester Grant, WTC Johnson Scholarship, and was awarded Artist In Residency at Treasure Hill in Taipei. His short films have won awards for his actors at First Run Festival and have been included at Oscar qualifying Newport Beach Film Festival and Cannes SFC.
