Opening with a voiceover and montage of political speeches and news broadcasts on the topic of immigration, American Carnage immediately introduces us to Jp and his sister Lily. She’s just been accepted into college, but what should be a happy family celebration is interrupted as an Ice Swat team kicks in the door.
And here we run into a major issue with American Carnage’s plotting. The raid is one of many called for under an executive order signed by Governor Haper Finn. Immigration policy and enforcement is a federal matter, an executive order by a state governor would have no force. And even if it did, Ice is a federal agency, it doesn’t take orders from state governments.

Set to arrive in theaters this Friday is Separation, the supernaturally infused horror drama directed by William Brent Bell. Starring Rupert Friend, Violet McGraw, Mamie Gummer, Brian Cox, and Madeline Brewer, Separation is centered around a couple who are in the middle of watching their marriage fall apart, with their young daughter Jenny (McGraw) caught in the middle of everything. Tragedy strikes, leaving Jenny’s father to care for her alone, or so he thinks, because there’s another entity keeping an eye on the young girl—one that is otherworldly and potentially has some sinister plans for the family.
Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to speak with Bell about how he initially got involved with Separation, and why it ended up being such a personal project for him. Bell also discussed working with his talented ensemble for the film, including Troy James, who plays Separation’s supernatural presence...

Get ready for more spring horror. The film is about an eight-year-old girl, played by Violet McGraw, who is lonely living among the feuds between her mother and father. When her mother is killed in an accident, things start to take a dark turn in their Brooklyn townhome. Her own puppets and other characters start to come to life. "When the motives of the ghoulish creatures become clear, the lives of everyone are put very much in jeopardy." The cast includes Mamie Gummer, Rupert Friend, Brian Cox, Troy James, Simon Quarterman, and Madeline Brewer. This already does look quite scary from this footage. And finally a good upgrade...

The Flash, as with the other Arrowverse shows, has had to take a month’s break due to the coronavirus pandemic affecting production. However, it will soon return to our screens for the 16th episode of season 6, titled “So Long and Goodnight.” As well as being the one to finally supply us with that Scarlet Speedster content we’ve been craving, the episode is also notable for featuring the return of two familiar characters.
As you can see in the promo images in the gallery below, both Sue Dearbon and Rag Doll will be back for the next installment of the show. Natalie Dreyfuss’ Sue was first introduced in episode 6×12 “A Girl Named Sue,” where she and Ralph quickly formed a bond – even though it turned out she had double-crossed him. No doubt sparks will fly when the pair reunite.

The Flash gets a creepy-crawly blast from the past when the CW drama returns with its first new episode in five weeks.
In the episode “So Long and Goodnight,” airing Tuesday, April 21 at 8/7c, Black Hole hires the suuuuuper-bendy Rag Doll (returning guest star Troy James) to kill Joe. But when Joe refuses to head into Witsec and stop investigating Carver (guest star Eric Nenninger), it appears — as seen in this first batch of new episodic photos in what feels like far, far too long — that someone very near and dear to the top cop will land in the mysterious organization’s cross hairs.

Considering that Barry Allen is the fastest man alive, he sure has been slow in returning to our TV screens with new episodes, right? To be fair, unlike nearly everything else that happens on the show, the ongoing delay with The Flash isn’t actually Barry’s fault, but a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has affected every corner of the economy, from “non-essential” businesses to TV productions. Which, to be fair, in the grand scheme of things, even Den of Geek has to admit is “non-essential.” Whew, that got dark.
Like the rest of the TV production slate, The Flash had to press pause on filming and post-production for a while last month as the seriousness of the pandemic began to take hold. And while there were still a number of episodes that had been filmed, it also slowed down post-production, which led to several upcoming episodes...

With production on scripted series grinding to a halt, The CW is the first network to postpone original episodes of some of its most popular series.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow will no longer air original episodes on March 24 and March 31 as planned, while The Flash will forego a new episode on March 31.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 8 was set to focus on Sara, Constantine, and Charlie in British Columbia.
Here's the official logline:
Sara (Caity Lotz), Constantine (Matt Ryan) and Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) find themselves in British Columbia searching for another piece of the Loom, but they run into a problem they couldn’t have foreseen.
Zari (Tala Ashe) has been having trouble feeling like herself, so she goes on meditative journey at the suggestion of Behrad (guest star Shayan Sobhian). Meanwhile, Ava (Jes Macallan) volunteers to try and help Rory (Dominic Purcell) with a personal problem.

News broke late last week that every CW scripted drama currently filming had temporarily shut down production over coronavirus concerns. At the time, we wondered when this might begin affecting the scheduled airings of upcoming episodes, and it appears that it might be sooner than we anticipated as both Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash have rescheduled upcoming episodes. While no reason was given for the schedule change, and the episodes in question had long ago finished their principal photography, it’s possible that the ripple effect of the production shutdowns have affected the post-production schedules of these special effects heavy shows.
The first one affected is Legends of Tomorrow, which has temporarily removed two episodes from the schedule. Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode 8, “Zari, not Zari” was scheduled to air on March 24. It has been replaced with a re-run of “A-head of Her Time.”

From Niña Medeiros in the Rec movies to the Crooked Man in The Conjuring 2 and KeyFace from Insidious: The Last Key, Javier Botet is a master at bringing cinematic nightmares to life through his creature performances. His recent role as the Big Toe Corpse in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (based on the books by writer Alvin Schwartz and artist Stephen Gammell) is another iconic creepy performance, and with the film now on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD from Lionsgate, Daily Dead had the great pleasure of catching up with Botet to discuss bringing the Big Toe Corpse to undead life, reteaming with Guillermo del Toro (who produced and co-wrote Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), working with fellow creature performance actor "Twisty" Troy James on It Chapter Two, and he also shared his hopes to reprise his role as the Crooked Man in a Conjuring spinoff film.

Guillermo del Toro who – alongside Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan – conceived the story for this screen adaptation of the beloved spooky children’s books of the same name by Alvin Schwartz, has been eager to get this project seen by an equally youthful audience. Passed as a PG-13 in the Us, here in the UK the film has been classified a 15 but this does not harm a film that is mostly quite capable of satisfying older and younger horror fans alike. Less an anthology horror structure and more of a story in the vein of It, this film has the fingerprints of del Toro clearly visible on it and expresses the dark affection the film’s makers all have for the source material.

According to Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark‘s narration, some stories hurt. Some stories heal. In the case of André Øvredal’s bone-chilling anthology adaptation, some stories scare the ever-loving life out of audiences. Yes, Alvin Schwartz’s terrifying anecdotes angle towards children – but, like Stephen Gammell’s illustrations, Øvredal treats his intended audience as horror fans.
It’s *healthy* to feel scared, and this summer’s Guillermo del Toro-produced “introductory” horror tale is anything but 101-basic. No pandering to “age-appropriateness,” aka watered down kiddie content. As Schwartz’s stories come alive, nightmares suck the air from your lungs. Stick to Goosebumps if your family haunts easily – these scary stories aren’t for the faint of heart.

Adapting a book into a movie is always a tricky process, but when Guillermo del Toro was considering bringing Alvin Schwartz’s iconic horror series “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” to the big screen, he had to look outside the source material and into his own work before he knew it could be a film.
“When we started talking about [making] this about five years ago, I had to think about it,” del Toro said Saturday afternoon in San Diego during a Comic-Con panel for the movie. “Anthology films are always as bad as the worst story in them — they’re never as good as the best story. Then I remembered in ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ I created a book called the Book of Crossroads.”
Del Toro was inspired by how that book was used in his 2006 film, and thought of an idea that made him confident in adapting “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark...

If you tuned in for the most recent episode of The Flash, then not only did you learn of the Negative Speed Force concept, but you also saw it utilized by Nora West-Allen. Not long after Eobard Thawne revealed its secrets to her, he came to regret his decision to do so because that very energy has now seemingly corrupted the young woman known as Xs.
Whether this development leads to Nora only temporarily going over to the dark side or ultimately sees her emerge as the Reverse-Flash’s successor remains to be seen, though my gut has me leaning toward the former option. Still, you never know what kind of surprises the producers have in store.
For now, though, she’s going to be a bad girl of sorts, as the Scarlet Speedster’s own daughter will be teaming up with the likes of Rag Doll, Weather Witch and...

Yesterday, The Flash reached its fifth episode of season 5, “All Doll’d Up,” which saw Team Flash go up against their most nightmarish foe yet in the form of Rag Doll (America’s Got Talent‘s Troy James), a criminal with super-powered contortion abilities who robbed folks while wearing a chilling mask.
Typically, the metahumans-of-the-week don’t make much of an impression, as they’re just a temporary obstacle for our heroes, but this time Rag Doll really made an impact on fans watching at home. Many just couldn’t deal with how eerie he was, from his weird mask to the cracking sound effects used when he contorted his body. In fact, it’s probably safe to say that a lot of Flash fans didn’t sleep much last night.

The Flash returned from its short hiatus with a creepy villain who has an ability that is similar to the Elongated Man. DC comic fans will be familiar with Rag Doll, who is a professional thief and contortionist from the golden age of DC comics. Merkel has the ability to stealth attack his foes with his incredible contortionist flexibility. Peter Merkel is introduced as the son of billionaire Theresa Merkel in The Flash Season 5 Episode 5 and is portrayed by Troy James, who is a contortionist. In the DC Comics, Peter Merkel is Rag Doll and was born with a condition of “triple-jointedness”. Merkel worked in a local carnival as a contortionist and financial hardship led him to a life of crime. […]

This week on The Flash, Nora started to see her mother in a new light — thanks to a sneaky Cecile and a fearless Iris.
After the events of last episode (in which Nora revealed that Future Iris dampens her daughter’s speedster powers), Nora goes off the grid for a stretch, crashing at Joe and Cecile’s. And even when she pitches in to play hero, her lack of training nearly smokes an elderly couple on the street. The Flash takes on the villainous Rag Doll!
This The Flash review contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 5
I'm worried that I'm starting to sound more like a broken record than usual, but I'm just gonna lay it out here one more time up front. If "All Doll'd Up" is an example of what an "off" week for The Flash season 5 is going to look like, then I think we are going to be just fine this year. This season has so far successfully balanced its necessary metas of the week with its main story (Barry/Iris/Nora) and its secondary story (Sherloque/Cisco/Caitlin), and I have yet to feel shortchanged by any of it. Even the villains of the week, often the bane of this show when not dealing with more recognizable Flash rogues have worked well in the context of the episode, and this week, the Rag...

Last season on The Flash, we were introduced to the concept of “Flash Time,” which basically allowed for Barry Allen to accomplish tasks at ridiculous speeds unbeknownst to those around him. Somehow, he was able to pull others into this pocket of sorts for brief periods, though I remain baffled how someone can stand still really fast. Hey, go back to the relevant adventures and then try to tell me everyone was in constant motion.

Pretzel Jack doesn’t speak, and Troy James is totally fine with that. In fact, when James auditioned to play the breakout character in the current season of Syfy horror anthology “Channel Zero,” he thought he might have blown the opportunity right at the start.
“They had asked for contortionist dancers and I thought, ‘Oh, dear. I don’t really dance.’ When I walked into the audition, I accidentally called the character ‘Pretzel Pete.’ I thought, ‘Great. I’m not going to get this role! It’s over,'” said James.
What mattered more to the “Channel Zero” team was James’ ability to move, which helped created an antagonist for “The Dream Door” that’s as unpredictable as he is flexible. Right now, I’m willing to once again state that The Flash‘s fifth season has been consistently impressive. I may have had good things to say about the premiere, sure, but you can really never tell how quickly the show as a whole could potentially go downhill. That said, I’ll ask you to recall the earlier episodes making up the previous season.
So, while we wait for the Star Labs squad to uncover Cicada’s secrets, we’ll turn our attention toward another new threat arriving in Central City, that being Rag Doll. Originally imagined as a nemesis for Jay Garrick, it’ll obviously be Barry Allen who’ll have to square off against this guy in the live action realm. And though Rag Doll’s been around since the Golden Age, he hasn’t received too much exposure outside of the comics – barring the animated series The Batman,...

As of tonight, the crew over at Star Labs appear as though they’re one step closer to learning Cicada’s true identity thanks to some crack detective work done by Ralph Dibny and Sherloque Wells, but they’ll all have to contend with one of the most unique freaks of the week we’ve ever seen when The Flash airs its next brand new episode.

Originally imagined as a nemesis for Jay Garrick, it’ll obviously be Barry Allen who’ll have to square off against this guy in the live action realm. First there was the Tooth Child in Candle Cove, then there was the masked man in No-End House, and after that we were introduced to the Meat Servant in Butcher's Block. In its fourth season, titled The Dream Door, Channel Zero shows no signs of slowing down, as it will introduce us to a new set of psychological horrors led by the "not so imaginary friend" character known as Pretzel Jack (played by contortionist Troy James). With The Dream Door airing tonight on Syfy (and airing a new episode each following night leading up to the finale on Halloween), Daily Dead had the great pleasure of catching up once again with showrunner Nick Antosca, who discussed the love story that's explored in The Dream Door, the artistic collaboration to make Pretzel Jack as creepy as possible, the future and shared universe of the creepypasta-based series, and his desire to bring back the Tooth Child.

Specifically, it’ll be Barry Allen and his wife Iris’ problem, as the Scarlet Speedster gets his other half involved to take her mind off a terrible revelation. Here’s what the synopsis teases:
Barry And Iris Team Up To Stop A Dangerous Meta Named Rag Doll —Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) lets something slip about the future that devastates Iris (Candice Patton). In an attempt to distract his wife, Barry (Grant Gustin) asks Iris to team up to stop a new meta, Rag Doll (guest star Troy James). Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker...
