World on Fire has come to an end after two seasons, Masterpiece on PBS executive producer Susanne Simpson revealed at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Monday.

Simpson added that the BBC decided not to renews the British series for “many different reasons.”

The first footage from “Devara,” headlined by “Rrr” star Ntr Jr., has been unveiled. “Devara” reunites Ntr Jr. with his “Janatha Garage” director Koratala Siva, whose last film was “Acharya,” starring megastar Chiranjeevi and “Rrr” star Ram Charan. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor (“Mili”) and Saif Ali Khan (“Vikram Vedha”) in pivotal roles. The actor had revealed to Variety that the film is a revenge drama.

The cast also includes Prakash Raj, Srikanth Meka, Tom Shine Chacko and Narain. The film is produced by Kosaraju Hari Krishna and Sudhakar Mikkilineni under the banners Ntr Arts (“Bimbisara”) and Yuvasudha Arts respectively and is presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander (“Leo”), cinematography by R. Rathnavelu (“Sarileru Neekevvaru”), production design by Sabu Cyril (“Rrr”) and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad (“Rrr”).

A galaxy of stars popular across Pakistan, South Asia and beyond headline Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original “Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo.”

The series is an official adaptation of Farhat Ishtiaq’s bestselling 2013 Urdu-language novel of the same name. It revolves around Sikandar, a Harvard law student who experiences a life-changing incident that makes him keep others at bay, and Liza, a talented artist who is bursting with life but has had a troubled past. They meet in Italy.

The cast includes Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan — who starred together in “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time — as well as Sanam Saeed, who was one of the leads in Zindagi series “Barzakh” alongside Fawad Khan. Ahad Raza Mir, who featured in Netflix series “Resident Evil” and made a splash in Season 2 of the BBC’s “World on Fire,” is also among the lead cast.

World on Fire is returning soon to Masterpiece on PBS. The network has announced the premiere date for season two with the release of a trailer. Season one of the British historical drama aired in April 2020 in the United States.

There’s a new trailer for World on Fire, the Masterpiece war drama from The A Word’s Peter Bowker that bows Sunday, October 15, on PBS.

The series looks at World War II through the eyes of ordinary people from all sides of the conflict. The new seven-episode season will follow the first year of the war, starting with the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 and ending with the Battle of Britain.

Season 2 of WWII drama “World on Fire” has proved to be another success for popular South Asian-Canadian actor Ahad Raza Mir.

Created by Peter Bowker, Season 1 of the PBS Masterpiece production premiered on the BBC in 2019 and dealt with the war in Western Europe. When “World on Fire” premiered on the BBC in September 2019, no one could have known that the World War II drama would be one of the last major scripted debuts on the public broadcaster before the pandemic.

The PBS Masterpiece co-production — which follows the interconnected lives of British and European families during the outbreak of war — confirmed it would return at the end of its Season 1 finale, but the onset of the Covid-19 crisis just four months later and its impact on global production made the prospect of setting up a continent-spanning war drama all the more unlikely.

Jonah Hauer-King can currently be seen swimming up a storm alongside Halle Bailey in Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid” but for his next project he’s part of a different world – “World on Fire.”

The PBS and BBC drama series has released first look images from its upcoming second season, showing Hauer-King as a grimy soldier called Harry in the Royal Air Force (Raf) during World War II.

In the show, which was created by Peter Bowker, he is joined by “The Crown’s” Lesley Manville, Parker Sawyers (“A Discovery of Witches”) and Eugénie Derouand (“The Advent Calendar”).

In new images from Season 2 Manville, who plays Robina, looks elegant in a 1940s hair-do and outfit while Sawyers, who plays Albert, is pictured looking concerned, a Nazi flag visible behind him. Meanwhile Derouand is clad in a nurse’s outfit as Henriette.

Pakistani star Sajal Aly, who is also one of the leads in Shekhar Kapur’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It?,” will lead a series adaptation of Urdu-language novel “Umrao Jaan Ada.”

A classic of Urdu literature, the novel, written by Mirza Hadi Ruswa in 1899, is known for its portrayal of the culture and society of the 19th century Indian subcontinent, particularly the lives of courtesans.

The novel has had several film adaptations. In Pakistan, Hasan Tariq directed “Umrao Jaan Ada” (1972), with Rani in the title role. In India, Muzaffar Ali’s “Umrao Jaan” (1981) starred Rekha, while J.P. Dutta’s 2006 adaptation “Umrao Jaan” starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The novel also inspired two 1958 Indian films – S.M. Yusuf’s “Mehndi” and Nakhshab Jarchavi’s “Zindagi Ya Toofan.”

As we know, Netflix cancelled their Resident Evil series after just one season. Given the cost of the series along with the lackluster reviews from critics and audiences, its cancellation wasn’t a big surprise, but the series definitely had its fans. Lance Reddick, who played Dr. Albert Wesker on Resident Evil, took to Twitter to respond to its cancellation and to give thanks to the showrunners, his fellow cast members, the executives who championed the series, and its fans.

An action horror series, the Resident Evil TV show is based on the video game by Capcom. The series stars Lance Reddick, Paola Núñez, Turlough Convery, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Ella Balinska, Connor Gossati, Ahad Raza Mir, and Pedro de Tavira Egurrola. In 2022, the action follows 14-year-old half-twins named Billie (Agudong) and Jade (Smart). They're the offspring of Doctor Albert Wesker (Reddick) and were conceived via suspicious circumstances. The girls' lives change dramatically when their father is given an executive position at the Umbrella Corporation, a struggling company that once employed him. They move to New Raccoon City, a planned community run by Albert's employer.

The Umbrella Corporation will be closing its doors as Deadline has reported that Netflix has canceled Resident Evil after just one season.

The Resident Evil series was released a month-and-a-half ago, and although it debuted at the #2 spot with 72.7 million hours viewed, it dropped off of Netflix’s Top 10 after only three weeks. Combined with the cost of the series and lackluster reviews from critics and audiences, the cancelation of Resident Evil isn’t a huge surprise.

The first live-action series in the Resident Evil franchise will be a short-lived one.

Netflix has canceled the series after a single season. The decision comes six weeks after Resident Evil’s July 14 debut and after both the streamer’s own metrics and external measurements showed the series didn’t have a long shelf life with viewers.

The series was the first live action show in the media-spanning Resident Evil universe after a host of video games and movie adaptations and a Netflix animated series that premiered in 2021. It’s set primarily in 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, and centers on a young woman (Ella Balinska) fighting for survival amid hordes of zombies and other monsters.

The cast also includes Lance Reddick, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gosatti and Turlough Convery.

Netflix has canceled “Resident Evil” after one season, TheWrap has confirmed. The eight-episode horror series, based on the game franchise of the same name, premiered on the streamer July 14.

The cancellation is unsurprising given the series’ mixed-to-negative critical and audience response: On Metacritic, “Resident Evil” holds a critics’ consensus score of 53 and an overwhelmingly negative user score of 1.5. The show holds a similar 55 critics’ score and 27 audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Upon its debut, “Resident Evil” held the No. 2 slot on Netflix’s Top 10, logging 72.67 million hours viewed. It dropped to No. 3 and No. 5 in the consecutive weeks, eventually exiting the list after its third week.

The series debuted to a mixed critical response, registering just a 55 approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes coupled with a 27 audience approval rating. Per the weekly Netflix Top 10 rankings that the streamer issues, “Resident Evil” was streamed for over 72 million hours the week it debuted, making it the number two program of the week behind only “Stranger Things” Season 4. It dropped to number three in its second week and fell out of the top 10 by week 3.

Just a year after the premiere of its last live-action adaptation, the “Resident Evil” franchise has risen from the grave in the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix horror series.

Based on the long-running Capcom survival horror franchise, “Resident Evil” stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, one of the main antagonists of the original video game series. Tamara Smart and Ella Balinska portray the younger and older versions of Wesker’s daughter Jade, while Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery round out the cast in undisclosed roles.

Netflix debuted the teaser trailer for its live-action series adaptation of the hit video game and film franchise on Thursday, revealing the first footage from the upcoming adaptation — and it’s jam-packed with all the “Resident Evil” hallmarks — the nefarious doings of the Umbrella Corporation, the spread of the T-Virus, blood-thirsty mutant animals and, of course, a whole lot of zombies.

After a glimpse at the false promise of Raccoon City’s 2022 utopia, the trailer jumps to post-zombie-outbreak London in 2036, delivering an action-packed (and blood-soaked) glimpse at the first live-action “Resident Evil” series. All eight episodes debut globally on Netflix on July 14.

Popular South Asian-Canadian actor Ahad Raza Mir has been cast in Netflix original series “Resident Evil,” Variety has confirmed. Netflix has not yet revealed details of the character Mir will be playing in the series.
