The Masked Singer has revealed its latest mystery as snooker star Stephen Hendry was unveiled as Rubbish.
In Saturday’s (21 January) festival-themed episode, Rubbish performed alongside Fawn, Jacket Potato, Rhino and Pigeon.
After his performance of “Ruby” by Kaiser Chiefs, Rubbish landed in the bottom two and was ultimately sent home by the judging panel.
Guesses ranged from athletes Max Whitlock and Sir Chris Hoy to presenters Paddy McGuinness and Jay Blades.
However, no-one managed to detect that it was Stephen Hendry in the colourful costume.
One of the clues hinted at him being celebrated for his youth – fitting, as Hendry became a professional snooker player at age 16 in 1985.
In 1994, Hendry was awarded an MBE, while he and Ronnie O’Sullivan share the record for the most World Snooker Championship titles, with seven.
On taking part in the competition, Hendry explained that his primary goal was to try something out of his comfort zone.

There aren’t any Bafta awards for “the nicest show on television”, but there jolly well ought to be, so that The Repair Shop receives its proper recognition each and every year. You can keep your moving dramas, searing social documentaries and World Cup finals, because there’s only one TV show guaranteed to get the audience weeping at full capacity, and especially at this emotionally charged time of year. They should probably rename it “There Will Be Tears”.
Ostensibly, the show is about dedicated craftspeople doing up bits of, frankly, tat and junk to no great commercial purpose. In contrast to the rather mercenary undercurrents on the Antiques Roadshow or all those daytime programmes featuring David Dickinson and a wad of tenners, there’s no snidey valuations “for insurance proposes, of course” and no possibility that deeply loved family heirlooms are quietly being prepared for auction to help pay for a new kitchen.

Bob Dylan has been offered a cameo on Coronation Street after the musician revealed he is a fan of the show.

James Gunn has issued a clarification to Ray Fisher after the actor accused him of “using fake grace” on Twitter.
In 2020, Fisher, who appeared in Whedon’s Justice League, alleged that the director had engaged in “gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable” behaviour on the set of the 2017 film.
Two years later, Whedon described the claims as “false and unjust” and said that he made Cyborg’s role in the film smaller as his storyline “made no sense”. He claims that test screening audiences found Cyborg’s character to be “the worst” in the film.
Many jumped to Fisher’s defence, including Gal Gadot and Charisma Carpenter, but the actor has pointed out that Gunn, who was recently appointed as the CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, “supported” Whedon.

James Gunn has acknowledged “uproarious” fan outrage following the recent decision to replace Henry Cavill in the forthcoming Superman sequel.
Last week, fans were furious after Cavill shared the “heartbreaking” news that he would no longer be reprising his role as the Man of Steel, despite being told by the studio to “announce his return in October”.
At the time, Gunn had also confirmed the decision, shutting down rumours that it was because he didn’t like Cavill.
Now, nearly a week later, on Monday (19 December), Gunn has confronted the “unkind” backlash from fans, writing in a tweet that when he and co-ceo Peter Safran took the “job as heads of DC Studios” they “were aware” there would be a “certain minority of people online that could be, well, uproarious & unkind, to say the least”.

Kathy Burke has hit out at Jeremy Clarkson after the former Top Gear presenter came under fire for vitriolic remarks about Meghan Markle.
In a newspaper column this week, Clarkson wrote that he despises the Duchess of Sussex “on a cellular level” and dreams of people throwing “excrement” at her in the street.

Lily Collins has answered the question that’s on everyone’s minds: How does Emily in Emily in Paris afford all her clothing?
The Emily in Paris star attended a screening for the Netflix show’s third season in New York City on Thursday. Speaking to Women’s Wear Daily, Collins shared how she thinks the titular character can afford her ubiquitous wardrobe.
“I love this idea of the suspension of disbelief that this girl just loves fashion so much,” Collins told the outlet. “I like to think she and Mindy [Ashley Park] have a giant storage unit of clothes they share, or maybe Emily does a clothing rental situation.”
As for the upcoming third season, Collins said viewers can expect Emily’s style to “start looking a little more French as she finds inspiration from friends and coworkers”.
“She’s still bright, bold and all the things I love about Emily,...

Jay Blades has said that he’s been “getting a lot of grief” after touching King Charles III during a special episode of The Repair Shop.
During The Repair Shop: A Royal Visit, which also celebrated the BBC’s centenary when it aired in October, the then Prince of Wales’s bracket clock and a piece made for Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee by British ceramics maker Wemyss Ware were fixed.
Some have apparently complained that the presenter broke royal protocol by touching Charles.
In the one-off programme, Blades greeted the 74-year-old with a cup of Earl Grey tea, presenting it in an Hrh mug and putting his hand on Charles’s arm.
Moments later, Charles returned the gesture by placing a hand on Blades’s back.
Blades told The Times in a new interview: “Well, there was plenty of royal security there to say don’t touch the geezer,...

Viewers of The Repair Shop are commending the unexpected double act of King Charles III and Jay Blades.
King Charles recorded an appearance on the BBC series before his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in October, back when he was Prince of Wales.
Billed as “a special episode to mark the BBC’s centenary”, the hour-long outing saw Blades meet with then Prince Charles to restore two historic items.
Viewers were left impressed by his appearance, with many praising future King’s comments on vocational skills and the importance of apprenticeships, as well as his general chemistry with Blades.
“Watch out Ant & Dec,” one viewer wrote on Twitter, adding: “What a great double act these two are.”
Another commented: “How relaxed Jay Blades and Prince Charles seen in each other’s company, obviously a genuine shared love of craftsmanship showing.”
“Dare I say it but two top blokes from Very...

I wondered what might happen when the brilliant artisans of BBC One’s The Repair Shop were confronted with a slightly weary but classic piece of mid-20th-century British craftsmanship, foxed round the edges, slightly stooped, the hands strangely bloated, and the head desperately clinging onto the few strands of the hair still remaining. Yet this unique national treasure, with all of his famous provenance, finds himself in good care. Yes, His Majesty King Charles III, now approaching his 74th year and never seriously refurbished despite some rough treatment, is handled with chummy deference by the programme’s stars, presenter Jay Blades, ceramics expert Kirsten Ramsay, horologist Steve Fletcher, and furniture restorer Will Kirk. And equal solicitude is applied, to the obvious delight of the then Prince of Wales, to the bric-a-brac he’s asked them to do up.
So, presumably on the understanding it is all done free of charge,...

King Charles III is shown overseeing the repair of his Victorian clock in preview of a special episode of The Repair Shop.
The episode, The Repair Shop: A Royal Visit, will air at 8pm this evening (26 October) on BBC One and was filmed while the King was still the Prince of Wales.
In the episode, the King needs help fixing a bracket clock and a Wemyss Ware piece which were made for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
In previews from the episode he tells presenter Jay Blades that the damaged piece fell over after someone opened a window, joking: “They didn’t own up.”
Experts who overlooked the restoration of the clock include ceramics expert Kirsten Ramsay, horologist Steve Fletcher, and furniture restorer Will Kirk.
In the preview, before the clock is revealed, the King is seen asking the crew: “Have you sorted this? The suspense is killing me!”
