ReviewEven the performances by Jayasurya and Jaffer Idukki, two talented actors, can’t do much to bring alive the formulaic script, written by Suneesh Varanad.CrisAfter Nadhirshah’s first movie as a director, Amar Akbar Anthony, released, the song by a little girl in the film had become hugely popular, and the theme written around child sexual abuse had led to a debate – on how the film celebrated the idea of the public lynching of an accused and people taking law into their hands. In his fourth film, Eesho, already a subject of controversy because of the title which means ‘Jesus’ and an allegation of plagiarism, Nadhirshah goes back to the same theme and uses a similar song by a little girl right at the beginning. KollywoodJyothika is currently shooting for Mani Ratnam’s 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam', in which she will share screen space with actors such as Arvind Swami and Vijay Sethupathi.Digital NativeDigital NativeIt’s been a great year so far for Jyothika, who began on a high note with the success of Bala’s Naachiyaar, in which she played a profanity-spouting, hot-headed cop. A departure from the roles she’s done since her return to acting, it was a treat to see her step out of her comfort zone and play a fearless woman in khaki. She recently signed Radha Mohan’s Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Tumhari Sulu. Jyothika will reprise Vidya Balan’s role of a housewife who fights mid-life crisis in the remake. Even before she could commence work on Kaatrin Mozhi, reports have emerged that she has signed another remake project. According to Suneesh Varanad, the writer of Manju Warrier starrer Malayalam film Mohanlal, Jyothika has been signed to star in the film’s Tamil remake. He shared the news via his Facebook page. He went on to add that the remake has been titled Rajini Selvi. In Mohanlal, Manju played a crazy Mohanlal fan. In the remake, the protagonist will play hardcore superstar Rajinikanth fan. However, neither Jyothika or the makers of Mohanlal are yet to make an official announcement regarding the remake. Talking to Tnm, Mohanlal film's director Sajid Yahiya said, "Though this subject has huge potential for a Tamil remake, nothing has been confirmed. We have not approached any artists till now. We are sure stars like Jyothika will be apt for the character." Jyothika is currently shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, in which she will share screen space with actors such as Arvind Swami, Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Arun Vijay and Aditi Rao Hydari for the first time. It is rumoured that before she commences work on Kaatrin Mozhi, Jyothika will wrap up her portion in Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer. Teaming up with the Roja filmmaker for the first time, she’s believed to be playing Aravind Swami’s pair in the film.
