The Powerful Reason David Harbour Doesn’t Talk in We Have a Ghost
Image
As an accomplished character actor and leading man, David Harbour has just about done it all in his career. But his latest role as Ernest the Ghost in Netflix’s We Have a Ghost is unlike any character he—or almost any other modern actor—has ever attempted. The gimmick is this: Harbour has no lines. He doesn’t speak once in the entire movie.

Actors lend their voices to movies without showing their faces all the time, but rarely does it happen the other way around for a leading performance in the 21st century. The question is, why make a movie in which one of its most recognizable stars on Netflix doesn’t say a word?

The answer is the same for any question about good artistic choices: Because it makes the story better.

Speaking of the story, it revolves around the Presley family, who’s just moved into...

We Have A Ghost Review
Image
Plot: After discovering that their new home is haunted by a ghost named Ernest, Kevin creates a YouTube channel and makes the ghost and his family Internet-famous. However, when Kevin and Ernest start to uncover the truth about Ernest’s past, they become a target of the CIA

Review: We Have A Ghost is the quintessential Neflix movie: a solid budget, recognizable actors in supporting roles, and some fresh-faced teen talent performing for a talented director. It also is overlong and does not seem to have any oversight on what should have been trimmed from its excessive running time. Christopher Landon’s movie is a mash-up of Ghostbusters, Harry and the Hendersons, and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial with an aim at being a family friendly adventure movie but one that does not really make any inroads towards a particular audience. With a mute performance from David Harbour as Ernest, We Have A Ghost...

‘We Have a Ghost’ (2023) Releases on Netflix
Image
We Have a Ghost is a comedy movie written and directed by Christopher Landon starring David Harbour, Jahi Di’Allo Winston and Anthony Mackie.

Oh, and dishy Jennifer Coolidge!

A movie with ghosts, familiar, full of clichés… Let´s go, so what were you expecting with kind of a plot? A good Hollywood product with good actors and professional directing in a movie that conjures the usual formulas, which work and thanks to the precision of millions of miles of cellulloid… knows how to press the right buttons in the viewer.

Storyline

A family moves into a very large house with a suspicious low price. They are not alone, evidently and soon the ghost starts doing its tricks.

Review of the Movie We Have a Ghost

Here they know how to laugh at the ridiculous situateion and which, after a thousand movies about haunted houses, this isn´t exactly scary. The...

‘We Have a Ghost’ Review – Gateway Horror Adventure Uses Ghostly Charms to Capture Family Bonds
Image
Writer/Director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) evokes the family-friendly Amblin movies of yesterday for his latest, Netflix’s We Have a Ghost. Wearing its formative gateway horror influences on its sleeves, We Have a Ghost blends nostalgic family adventure-induced charm with Landon’s distinct ability to render authentic characters to an affecting degree. While it threatens to overstay its welcome, the tender adventure delivers ghostly charm, poignant family bonds, and humor that’ll appeal to new generations of budding genre fans.

The Presley family moved into a long-vacant fixer-upper near Chicago, looking for a fresh start. It’s the latest in a string of new beginnings for ambitious, restless dad Frank (Anthony Mackie), much to the chagrin of his youngest son, Kevin (Jahi Winston). Not even older brother Fulton (Niles Fitch) or peacekeeping mom Melanie (Erica Ash) can stave off the mounting tension between them. Kevin’s tired...

‘We Have a Ghost’ Actor David Harbour on How Genre Roles Made Him a Horror Fan [Interview]
Image
Happy Death Day and Freaky director Christopher Landon’s Amblin-style family adventure We Have a Ghost premieres on Netflix on February 24.

Written and directed by Landon, We Have a Ghost is an adaptation of a story written by Geoff Manaugh, published on Vice in October of that year.

In the film, “Finding a ghost named Ernest haunting their new home turns Kevin’s family into overnight social media sensations. But when Kevin and Ernest go rogue to investigate the mystery of Ernest’s past, they become a target of the CIA.”

We Have a Ghost stars Jahi Di’Allo Winston (Charm City Kings) as Kevin and David Harbour (Violent Night, “Stranger Things”) as the ghostly Ernest. Ahead of the film’s premiere, Bloody Disgusting spoke with Harbour about what it’s like to portray a nonspeaking ghost and what keeps him returning to the genre.

Harbour may have a recognizable voice,...

Jennifer Coolidge Is a Medium With a Fear of the Supernatural in ‘We Have a Ghost’ Trailer
Image
Jennifer Coolidge has lived many lives on screen, one of her latest being in Netflix’s upcoming film We Have a Ghost. Judging by her fear-stricken reaction to seeing an actual ghost, the psychic medium she plays, Judy Romano, is the kind of supernatural communicator who hopes they never actually have to come in contact with the supernatural.

It doesn’t help that the ghost at hand, a wronged family man named Ernest (David Harbour), is in cahoots with a teenager named Kevin (Jahi Di’Allo Winston), whose family moved into a haunted house.

We Have a Ghost: David Harbour haunts Anthony Mackie’s family in the trailer for the new Netflix comedy
Image
In the mood for a good haunting but don’t want to be scared?

Then, you might want to check out the new trailer for We Have a Ghost. The comedy is a Netflix original starring the streaming service’s Stranger Things star, David Harbour, and Anthony Mackie. The movie looks to have a fun twist on the typical tropes of a family moving into a new home in a new town that knows of rumors of an apparition in said home. Harbour’s spectre is the friendliest ghost outside of Casper and hijinks ensue when he and Mackie’s family start co-existing as local celebrities.

The official Netflix synopsis reads,

“Ernest the ghost, discovered by the homeowner who named him that because the apparation looks like Ernest Borgnine. The homeowner Frank, begins filming his ghost and posting it for the world to see on social media. Ernest becomes a viral sensation.

We Have A Ghost Trailer: David Harbour Gets His Ghostly Feelings Hurt In A New Netflix Comedy
Image
What happens when you take a modern-day dysfunctional family and move them into a haunted house? According to movies of the past, they get the bejesus scared out of them on a daily basis, until they finally decide to get the hell out of dodge and leave the specter-filled home behind. But I think Netflix's upcoming comedy "We Have A Ghost" paints a much more realistic image of how it would go down: Sure, the family is initially scared, but then they break out the cameras, make a YouTube account, and turn their haunting into a lucrative phenomenon known as internet fame.

The film hails from filmmaker Christopher Landon, known for helming the "Happy Death Day" films, and the criminally under-appreciated comedic-slasher "Freaky." This time, Landon's stepping back from horror and further into the realm of comedy with a supernatural thriller that's suitable for the whole family. Written and directed by Landon,...

Kourtney Kang Coming-Of-Age Comedy Gets NBC Pilot Order, Casts Young Lead

NBC has given a pilot green light to a single-camera comedy from Fresh Off The Boat co-executive producer Kourtney Kang and creator/executive producer Nahnatchka Khan, actor-director Fred Savage, and 20th TV. I’ve learned exclusively that Isabella Russo has been cast as the young lead in the show written by Kang based on her life, which explores what it’s like to grow up as the only girl in the only mixed-race family in the suburbs of Philadelphia, dealing with real-world issues like race and gender while never losing focus of her life goal… to become a Laker Girl like her idol Paula Abdul.

Russo, who originated the role of Summer in School Of Rock on Broadway, will play that half-Asian girl, Katie, growing up in the suburbs of Philly in 1988. Because the role is so specific, talent search began ahead of the formal pilot green light, which I...
