Courtney Holt, a veteran media and tech exec who joined CoComelon and Blippi producer Moonbug Entertainment last February, has been upped to Managing Director, Americas.
He is replacing Andy Yeatman, who is exiting Moonbug for a yet-to-be-revealed new post.
Holt will lead the Candle Media-owned company’s creative and commercial teams in North America, reporting to René Rechtman, founder and CEO of Moonbug. Holt joined Moonbug as the company’s first Global Head of Music and Strategic Audio Initiatives, and those responsibilities will continue in his newly expanded role. After the shuffle, Holt will oversee Moonbug’s originals strategy. The company, which the Blackstone-backed Candle acquired for $3 billion in 2021, creates and distributes longer-form film and TV content through various global partners.

Blippi, the blue-and-orange-clad character portrayed by Stevin John, is getting a new spinoff. Candle Media, which acquired Blippi owner Moonbug last year in a deal worth a reported 3 billion, has announced Meekah. The Netflix show will star the titular character, who first appeared on the Blippi YouTube channel last year.
Meekah is portrayed by Kaitlin Becker, who previously appeared on the Daytime Emmy-nominated programming block Sunny Side Up. Like Blippi, Meekah appeals to preschool-age children. Becker’s character helps those young viewers understand artistic and scientific concepts. In one of the most popular videos on the Meekah YouTube channel, the titular character meets a dinosaur during one of her adventures.
Since splitting off onto her own channel, Meekah has gained about 588,000 subscribers and pulled in more than 258 million lifetime views. Now, Moonbug and Candle Media will see if those numbers can translate onto a new platform. Blippi is already a hit on Netflix,...

Moonbug Entertainment is set to expand its children’s empire on Netflix, betting that the Blippi universe has room for growth.
When Candle Media, the Blackstone-backed content rollup led by Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs, acquired Moonbug Entertainment last year at a 3 billion valuation, much of the attention was on Cocomelon.
The animated preschool franchise is one of the most popular channel owners on YouTube, and its Netflix show is one of the most popular kids programs on the streaming platform. But Moonbug, under its new ownership, has also been seeking to expand, acquiring the Little Angel YouTube franchise earlier this year.
Now, it’s using one of its own brands, Blippi, as a jumping off point.
To that end, Netflix will launch the first spin-off show set in the world of Blippi starring Meekah, a character played by Kaitlin Becker who...

Amazon inked a deal with Moonbug Entertainment, a big producer and distributor of digital kids’ programming, to create content for Amazon Kids Plus.
The first joint project centers on an original production of “Arpo Robot Babysitter,” based on Moonbug’s YouTube show Arpo, and encompasses long-form specials. The Arpo original content is slated to premiere exclusively on Amazon Kids Plus in the fall of 2021. The companies are also developing a new Arpo mobile game.

Moonbug, the U.K. and Los Angeles-based kids' content firm formed on the heels of the acquisition of Little Baby Bum -- the 13th most-viewed YouTube channel on earth -- and which also nabbed a cool $145 million in venture funding last December, has now tapped a storied digital media executive to help steer its American expansion.
Former Netflix exec Andy Yeatman has been named Moonbug’s head of Americas, and will be based out of the company’s new Los Angeles offices. In this role, Yeatman -- who formerly served as director of Netflix's kids and family content -- will oversee Moonbug’s operations and growth, leading the company’s creative, production, and commercial teams. He will also help to identify local kids’ content purveyors for potential acquisition.
Moonbug is led by co-founder and CEO René Rechtman, co-founder and COO John Robson, and Alfie Chubb, who serves as head of mergers and acquisitions.

The Netflix executive who allegedly told a sexual assault victim that the company did not believe multiple claims made against recently ousted “The Ranch” star Danny Masterson has been fired, Vulture reports. The long-simmering allegations against Masterson, which now include four different women who have accused him of rape, recently came to a head after Andy Yeatman, the now-former director of global kids content, denied an alleged victim to her face.
The story was reported by The Huffington Post earlier this month, when one of Masterson’s alleged victims approached Yeatman at a kids soccer game to ask why the streaming giant had not yet cut ties with Masterson. Yeatman then allegedly told the woman, “[W]e don’t believe them,” not realizing she was one of the alleged victims.
