Born and raised in New Zealand, Tarry has a love for the people and the land of Aotearoa. He spent many years surfing, fishing and enjoying New Zealand's stunning coastline with friends and family. Tarry met his future wife Lisa on a movie set in Canada and they married in 2000 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Upon returning to New Zealand they had 3 children, Mikayla, Bayley and Savannah.
For the next 16 years Tarry worked in media in New Zealand. He produced and directed numerous documentaries, TVC's, music videos, promotional material and a prominent faith-based television program which screens in over 150 countries around the world. In 2016 he wrote, directed, edited and produced Broken (2018), an independent feature film. The project utilized amateur actors, volunteer crew and an incredibly low budget. However, the trailer acquired over 4 million views online and the film was picked up by Rialto Distribution. In February 2018 Broken (2018) was theatrically released in over 60 cinemas around New Zealand and was number 1 across the country on opening night. Later that year it released in numerous theaters around Australia. Broken (2018) went on to be the second highest grossing New Zealand film for 2018.
In 2017 Tarry and his family embarked on a new adventure that would take them across Canada and the United States. During their travels Tarry was contracted to write numerous screenplays including The Long Road Home, The Forgotten, The Sticky Note Gospel and Transformed - The Todd White Story.
Tarry and his family reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
